Everyone wasn't doing it. One of the most Embarrassing and cringeworthy things I've seen at a football or rugby match. I couldn't bring myself to do that in an empty room, in the dark with my eyes shut.

I never whinged. Harmless, good natured fun if you are under 6, embarrassing if you're older. It's stupid, makes no sense and adds nothing to the atmosphere. The fact that a lot are proud of it and want to show it off speaks volumes.

If you've followed a football club with a decent terrace culture away from home you tend behave a certain way at the match.
