| Has signed for Bradford on a 3 year deal.
Does this point towards Bulls being a serious contender again next year with the other signings they have made, or does it suggest things untangling at Leeds somewhat?

More the latter.
who was Leeds' big signing? don't answer that.
But i tell you Bulls have a good coach and a good team coming through. When they sign a leader in the halfs like Pryce or maybe Bosc they'll be top eight.

| serious contenders for top 8 - without a doubt
top 4 - unlikely
No doubt leeds will be shipping out some of the first team squad.... they don't need a total overhaul.. but they do need to freshen things up a bit....
I had expected to see more players leave leeds.

| Don't we say this every year about Bradford's signings?
Diskin is a decent player but he's not the type of player who is going to turn Bradford into title contenders, and he wasn't the sole reason Leeds were strong.
I would have thought you could make more of a case for us signing Hodgson being a sign that Warrington are now title favourites, and Hudds are unravelling?

How long has the Hodgson thing been known about?
a year maybe more?
this Leeds thing is out of the blue. It is his testimonial year just gone(IIRC)
Huddersfield have had 2 strong seasons. Leeds have had a nightmare of one this year.
Leeds are declining.
I do think Diskin can make Bradford strong though.

You think? I don't think Hodgson had a particularly outstanding season this year.
Then again, I don't know when your being sarcastic or not.

Well thats what I meant, it was obviously an exaggeration but he's a more significant player than Diskin.
With us we are already a strong side "in the mix" for trophies although I would put us slightly behind Wigan and Saints and on about a par with Leeds, at the moment. Hodgson is the type of player that gives us a bit extra which pushes us towards Wigan and Saints. I know he is old but he's fit and resilient like Hicks so the age doesn't bother me.
I reckon his age is the reason this has been underrated as a signing. I'm not saying he's the best player in the world but I think him joining us will benefit us and hit Hudds more than most people reckon, but we will just have to see!

| Am I reading right here??....Matt Diskin, an average hooker, joins Bradford and suddenly some of you think this indicates Bradford on the way back up???....
Personally, just seems to me like Bradford picking up a bigger club's rejects, similar to Castlford & Salford taking Mathers & Vinnie Anderson off us.
Leeds have had a relatively poor season and quite rightly are weeding out a bit of dead wood.....Bradford, unable to compete with the big spenders, pick him up on a cheap contract.
I certainly think Bradford will improve next year, they couldn't do much worse, but to suggest this signing warrants a surge of optimism is being a bit silly.

Are you for real? Huddersfield have had two strong seasons, but Leeds have had a nightmare of one?
Leeds won the Grand Final year before last, after finishing top of League.
Leeds were in the challenge cup final this year, and in the final eliminator for the Grand Final.
Leeds finished above Huddersfield in the league each of those years.
Explain again how Huddersfield have had a better two years than Leeds?

Shush.
We all enjoyed our day out at Wembley but we won a couple of games. It was cringeworthy to hear people refer to us as 'champions'.
Saints are a better side than us as proved 3 times this year and their finishing position.

Who have improved?
Are you doing a backtrack here from your original silly comment?
Huddersfield certainly have not improved. Finishing 3rd in the League and playing in a challenge cup final, to finishing 5th in the league and no cup final the following year is not improvement.
No that I am bagging Huddersfield in anyway, just highlighting your nonsense.

looking foolish now?
Hudders finished third/ fourth. P/o semi final vs Saints.
Last year lost to Saints and Catalans and finished sixth (I think)
That is an improvement.
Even more so Leeds went from Gf champions and League leaders to winning nothing and coming third/ fourth. This would suggest they may be unravelling. Both my points stand.

Except Leeds still did better than Hudds both seasons. And Leeds finished 4th (+ a cup final) and Hudds fifth this year.
So even if Leeds are on a decline, they are still ahead of Hudds. Although by your logic Huddersfield have had a nightmare of a season and are on a decline.

| i'm not comparing Leeds to Hudders. No one is. It was foolish for Gotcha to do that. It was even more foolish for me to be glib before and not address it.
Try again. The original Question was "Does this point towards [uBulls being a serious contender again next year[/u with the other signings they have made, or [udoes it suggest things untangling at Leeds[/u somewhat?
I said i thought that Bradford were moving towards top eight (n.b I wouldn't say was a silly post- very reasonable prediction)
Then sally said 'was it more a sign of Hudders. unravelling?"
So they are separate points. Compare Leeds 2010 with Leeds 2009 and compare Huddersfield 2009 and 2010!
You do it now. Compare them.
I said that Leeds are unravelling and Huddersfield are improving. That is a perfectly reasonable assumption.

Fair enough if you didn't compare them, I apologise for that.
However I think its far too soon to say Leeds are unravelling, they had a very poor start to the season but were probably the form side the 2nd half of the season and also got to the Challenge Cup final. I'm certain they will still be up near the top of the league next year, especially without the world club championship and all the added pressure.
Hudds had an outstanding year 2009 where they went top 4 and got to the CC final, but this year they haven't been as good and finished outside of the top 4. Now they are losing their best and probably most influential player.

I can agree with that but their is something very fishy about diskin leaving now. I don't know why but it gives me the feeling that worse is to come. I think that feeling will pass when they get westerman's signature their players signed up so far are disappointing at best. Losing Eastwood and not getting a great replacement seem ominous.
Huddersfield have defo lost their leader but they have a lot of talent in brown and I think brough will be more of a game changer next year. They seem to have the squad on paper to maybe do something good.
I have the opinion that Leeds are on the way down. It won't be to wooden spoon territory or at least out the top 5 or six but i think there is something not right. Come next season it'll probably be all in my head and they'll be refreshed with Burgess and Peacock and McGuire all back. I don't know.
Bradford look like a stronger squad this year than last IMO.

| Diskin is a good squad player, a player you need to keep hold of your bigger stars to fit them in the cap.
Trouble is at Bradford he isn't so much a squad player as he was at Leeds.
Not a slight on Diskin, more on Bradfords decline

Bradford do but they also seem to have padded out the squad with a lot of average players, and the only players of any sort of quality are Diskin + Elima. I still think they'll be short of the top 4, the Hulls + Hudds.
I think Diskin left just to freshen the team up a bit, it allows Buderus to play a more natural game, and probably means Burrow doing spells at hooker and Sinfield moving into the halves (incidentaly where some of this best performances came this season imo).
