He is a halfback not a centre. May get away with it in superleague, but not at international level

well he certainly doesn't get away with being a halfback in SL.

Sorry, but I also disagree... I think Bridge was very good at HB but he has been awesome at centre. I hope he plays a blinder!!!

MY worry is his winger Fox, who is very poor defensively. Bridge should do alright and will be a vast improvement on Lee Smith

Hope he does aswell, but it shows a lack of quality backs in sl when we have to play a halfback at centre.

This could be Chris Bridges opportunity to become a top player. I hope he has a great game and becomes a player that fulfills his potential.

If we were to be ruthless, what is Bridge's competition? For all of the handwringing about Bridge's inclusion, who else could be in the squad in his place?

You seem to be forgetting that TS shipped out the then current England centre to the Piedome and consistently picked Bridge at centre for us, praising his work many times.

Reckon Grinner has got a problem with Martin Gleeson. ok, get him out of the club, but personal differences should not come into the national team.

In 2009, Bridge has been a better centre than Gleeson, who is clearly past it. England has a real shortage of class centres, so it's not surprising to see Bridge picked. He certainly can't so any worse than Lee Smith did. Shenton is at No 4, so not a rival for a place.

Completely disagree. I see him as a very good centre who can fill in at half-back. He played his junior international rugby at centre and it is the position that would seem to suit his style of play more. I'm very excited to see how he does and really hope he does well. He is an instinctive try scorer and can attack the line and pull 4 points out of nothing.
Would also be interested to see who kicks England's goals.

Shocking decision by Smith.

1. He's biscuit.

2. He's a NL1 player, bit part SL at best.

3. He's got a bad attitude.

4. He doesn't smile when he plays for us.

He's been by far a better centre than Gleeson this year
And at least he's not bogging off to Union after the 4 nation.

He has played a very respectable 23 games this season. Players have periods in their careers where they pick up lots of injuries on the run, but many come through it and go on to have a long and productive career.
As for his attitude, he is an extremely hard worker/trainer and delivers on the pitch. Personally I don't care what the papers report about incidents as they rarely include all the facts, and as long as it is nothing "serious" e.g. breaking and entering/assault/associating with Leon Price, then I agree with Tony Smith. "What players do in their own time is up to them".
As for not smiling, I fail to see the relevance of this with regards to international selection.
