| These are the 2 players i`ll put forward, ive put 2 hookers forward as well which is a position we need to strengthen in my opinion.
Darren Lockyer
Rob Burrow.
Ian Henderson
Brad Drew
We should have a decent amount of money to spend on a half back next year and in my opinion we should move for Lockyer and use the Johns money to try and entice him, he could consider a move to England as he has achieved everything possible in the NRL and also at Origin level. You don`t get if you don`t ask!
Rob Burrow is a very attack minded player and he has electric pace off the mark and would give us a great double threat in the halves with Lee Briers and Burrow is also a very good defender for his size.
Ian Henderson for me is a quality hooker and the Bulls look a far bigger threat when he is on the pitch than when Newton is on, Brad Drew we know all about who is out and out quality both in attack and defence.

| Being realistic I don't think there is any chance of Lockyer coming to us.
I also don't think we should sign a hooker, Gleeson and Clarke and playing well enough.
Sean Long would be a good signing as would Leon Pryce, if we are looking abroad (which we possibly will with 3 quota spots available) then I think the club will look at experienced halves who have proven class, I have a funny feeling that Kimmorley could be the man they target.

| quick tangent, aside from your well known favoritism for drew Rob, how did you think he played yesterday, like clarke he played a bit of the game in both positions.

| Sean Long??? Will people stop it, your frightening me. Long is passed it, yes Johns was older but Long isnt fit to wipe the mud from Johns studs.
Tim Smith -Parramatta
Dobson - Canberra
Matt Orford - Manly
Robinson - Salford
Burrow - Leeds
Of course the likes of Lockyer would be outstanding, just dont see it happening. Kimmorley would be a possibility, seen as though he will clearly be overlooked for the SOO and test jumpers now.
Ideally and my second choice to Johns would be Cooper Cronk from Melbourne, he is Johns in the making. Has an excellent rugby brain, and kicking ability. Plenty of pace and can tackle more than his weight. I do see him though getting a SOO jumper and possibly test jumper this year.

Ppplllllease! Could you find anyone MORE overated? The guy is as overated (yet loved by Stevo-which says it all) as Hock and Mr NRL Chris Thorman.

| Being realistic, if we are to get an overseas player it will more than likely have to be an understudy player. Thurston, Cronk and Orford will not break a contract to come here, espcially the first two as one is a current test player, the other destined for great things.
The only established player I could see being released is Michael Monaghan as it is no big secret that Manly looked to offload this season. He is now fourth choice halfback so he would probably take a chance on being first pick.
There are some great youngsters in Australia coming through, Mullen, Burns, Soward off the top of my head. I would imagine these would be where we have a greater chance of success with.

He's a little down the pecking order and at an unfashionable team being Canberra. The likes of Thurston, Lockyer, Cronk would all be infront of him at this moment in time. He's young enough to come back to the Uk for another 3seasons and still have age on his side to cut it in the NRL and stive for the test jumper, in my opinion.

| if its from the nrl either thurston, lockyer or dobson
if english burrow,robinson or rooney
i would also bring in henderson at hooker as he wouldn't count on the quota and put clarke in 2nd row or use him as a bench player

| think ppl are getting a bit carried away with dobson, yes he did achieve the fete of improving wigan from total crap to average last year, but that was an emergancy situation where they actually signed an out n out controlling half rather than a strike player like moran.
Have wigan learned their lesson from this? no they went an signed a strike halfback again in leuluai (am i close?).

I'd agree with that.
Paul Cooke. I know he's an off field loose cannon. His natural game is to the left as we play, he provides excellent ball for Yeaman and Raynor. Briers naturally enjoys the right and his distribution this way is superb.
I'd like a halfback that compliments Briers too, Burrow roams around alot and isn't too structured in his play which would concern me given how we set up.
Cooke would be my 1st choice and another goalkicking option.
I wouldn't mind somebody like McLinden to be honest, although he's largely played fullback for the past 18 mths.
