| Over recent time there has been more and more posts on both RL Fans Warrington and Saints RedVee from members showing their dislike for both teams, clubs even the towns and people.
Nothing wrong with banter and everyone is entitled to opinion but sometimes posts go OTT in my view.
This has got me thinking why such dislike.
Yesterday I was talking to a mate of my mine who is a decent Saints fan (and before somedody shouts - yes there are many decent saints fans) and I asked him why is their such dislike of the wire.
He told me that Saints fans now dislike Wire as a club more than their bitterest rivals Wigan. Why I asked. Answer "Wire don't focus and give youth a chance. At least Wigan do". I pushed him on this and he went on to say Wire sooner buy players from other clubs at the expense of giving youth a chance. To be fair he has a point. Latest posts past days "Buy Eddy Battye" comes to mind. Similar points in other posts re getting other players (props - Fifita, Watts etc).
I asked him if the fact wire have money men running the club having the funds to buy players is the issue and is it jealousy? Answer was a sound "no".
Thoughts on this welcomed but also what are wire reasons for dislike of Saints and other clubs?

All the above is from one person only. The rest of us have a bit more intelligence.

We'll this post won't change a great deal, as it's just perceptions fueled by bias and jealousy, on both sides, that cause the dislike of each other.

| Saints are the worst set of fans for belittling Wire about how much we’ve won or how long it is since we won a Grand Final. They’re miles worse than Wigan and Wigan have won more than Saints.
They’re the fans who started the “it’s always your year” chant. They have a “64 years” chant.
What makes me laugh about that is that even in our 64 years since winning the 1955 Grand Final at Maine Road we’ve won a hell of a lot more than Saints did in their first 80 years as a club, by the time Broughton Rangers folded in the 1950s they’d been more successful than Saints. Saints were absolute nobodies for eight decades.
What doesn’t help on here as well is that that Saints poster who posts under two Saints’ fan usernames (Ruune and ASLOB) contributes the most bitter nonsense on this website.
There are some decent Saints posters on this site and they came on to congratulate us on the weekend of the CC Final.
As for not giving youth a chance; Saints’ best team in the SL era (2006) had the exact same number of their own youth products playing in their first team as Wire have now. They bought all the rest and won All Four Cups with all those bought players and the odd home grown. So while it’s alright for them, it’s not for us? Good logic!
I agree that Wire need to be bringing through more home grown players but it’s an odd thing to be picking us up on, when at their best they were in the same ratio as us now.
As for the rivalry; I think it’s healthy for the sport to have fierce rivals. And after years of them beating us home and away - in some circumstances with killer last minute tries or drop goals - and then us getting the better of them in big games this decade... bring it on I say and let’s have more of it!

| FMP point is a valid one. If Saints still had money to apend, they'd spend it.
We spent money pre 2009 and they barely acknowledged our existence, but since we started to accumulate silverware the dialike has grown.
We're a threat, it's a compliment.

| Simply put its born from frustration on their part. For years we got mullered by them and then we started competing, but that was okay because they always found a way to beat us at the death which made it all the more sweeter for them. Then the tide started turning when we became competent enough to get ahead and importantly see out games against them. The tipping point for the sheer disdain for Warrington though has come from us winning them when it counts. It must be pretty annoying for their fans when their team puts us away quite handily all through the season only to be embarassed when it comes to the knockout games. Must be maddening. So the hatred begins to stew then into what its become. Last three knock out games they've been clear favourites and its gone to their heads.

Well if you don't want to talk about the current as Wire being the only 2019 cup winners...we can talk history then as Wire have never been relegated to Div2 unike Saints.

Depends on where you look. I think most of St. Helens points came from semi-finals
Sheard’s research awarded the following points:
Championship/Super League: Winner – 100 points, runner up – 75 points, 3rd place/play-off semi finalists – 50 points
Challenge Cup: Winner – 60 points, runner up – 30 points, semi finalists – 15 points
Regal Trophy: Winner – 40 points, runner up – 20 points, semi finalists – 10 points
World Club Challenge: Winner – 30 points, runner up – 15 points
Dr Sheard’s ‘Ultimate Rugby League Table’ (Points totals in brackets)
1 Wigan (6,565)
2 St Helens (4,730)
3 Leeds (4,290)
4 Warrington (2,550)
5 Bradford Northern/Bulls (2,325)
6 Huddersfield (2,130)
7 Hull (2,085)
8 Widnes (1,910)
9 Halifax (1,840)
10 Salford (1,620)

Ah, I see what you did there... included non-major trophies in your ‘success’ classification system. Did you pull that one from somebody’s WIKI entry by chance?
If you want to include 2nd division titles like Saints possess, fine - we can’t lay claim to that one.
If you’re looking at a classification system weighted around the two major trophies and finishing position which is all anyone cares about, then you’re well behind Wigan.
[urlhttps://www.loverugbyleague.com/post/the-ultimate-rugby-league-table/[/url
Under that objectively viewed premise, Warrington are 4th. Maybe one day we’ll get the chance at the second division.

| I've said this many times before.
When I started watching us, in the last months of the 70's, the was NO rivalry. Zilch.
This continued throughout the 80's. The attendances for these games prove it. Nowhere near the amounts we got (or took to) Wigan, Widnes and Leigh.
The "rivalry" started after Stains started their winning run against us, and Eddie Hemmings invented a non existant hoodoo. It wasn't a hoodoo, they were just much better than us, at the time. That's sport.
The new "rivalry" took a new twist, when Wigan's form plummeted around 2005ish, and they needed a new foe. We fitted the bill. Oh how they enjoyed patting us on the head, while they picked up trophy after trophy.
Now, the worm has turned, and they're serial bokklers. Only 1 BIG trophy in 20odd attempts (and that, only because they struggled to get past 12 men, for 79 mins) , since 2008, and we like [ipiddling on their chips[/i in crucial matches, while "twerps" like LMS celebrate like they've got a ticket to The Last Supper, after winning a league game in June.
Let em stew. They're nowt.

They don't have a Div2 title...they could only managed 2nd spot in promotion.
