Absolutely gutted ! But sadly we all knew it was coming.
Moz has become a legend in his own playing era.
He has gone from being a fiery, hot-headed almost lethal young hit-man, maturing into one of the most sensible, reliable leaders in the game.
He was both feared and respected by peers in both hemispheres.
How many current players can distract the opposition simply by being on the field ? Just the threat.
We have some good young forwards in the club and there are many more in SL and the NRL.
But a replacement for Moz ? Thats going to be a very tall order. Moz is something of a throw-back to the hard days. They just don't make 'em like him any more !
Well played Moz !!
Thanks for the memories and every best wish for the future.
Firstly, yes thanks to both Moz and Gareth for being a big part in the success of the club, recently. Sadly, neither is the player they were so it's good business by the club, and a good dealsfor the players.
What I think is undeniable now is that the clubs primary recruitment focus needs to be a real, brutal enforcer in the pack, the kind to put a few opposition forwards on their hind quarters and make them think twice about coming that way again.
Hill has been a superb aquisition but he is not that sort of player; neither is Wood who incidentally was asolutely brilliant against Wigan. The backrow of (choose from) Westwood, Waterhouse, Grix, Harrison & Currie oozes work ethic, hard-yards and no shortage of class, whilst Higham should be the senior hooker ahead of Dyer and perhaps Darryl Clarke.
So, step forward some raw-boned, no-nonsense handful of a prop. Hockian thugs need not apply, ability to score tries and offload not essential but ability to scare the sh*t out of opposition packs mandatory.
