| Seen a few comments on anti social media saying that Tony Williams is being touted to SL clubs, technically more of a 2nd row but when you're 6ft4 and all but 19st you have got to be big enough for the front row.
Had problems with form over the seasons but when I've seen him in the NRL he's lightening fast for his size with very good hands. Guess it depended on how (if at all) the club could accommodate him and if Sheens knows enough about him to take a punt, I wouldn't mind seeing him.

| Yeah would defintley take a punt if we could, but yet again it's if we can fit him in. We are desperate for at least another forward so i would take anyone atm.

See that's why we have been in the position we have recently, just getting someone in for the sake of it has cost over the odds in fees/wages and we have ended up with square pegs for the round holes.
No I'll wait, give the younger props a go, nothing ventured nothing gained, we might end up finding a gem.

| If it was to happen i guess you could shift Murdoch Masila into the front row with Williams and Huaraki/ Sarsfield/Lannon into the second row.

| For me someone like Williams would be a lock, can play the full 80, brilliant hands and fits in with the new trend of having a prop sized player at FL. Boosts the physical presence of the pack and adds a certain attacking X factor.

| He's the same sort of mold as Pritchard. He can fill in at halfback as well. But still is there anyway we could fit him in?

| Tony Williams was being Touted last year, and apparently we had almost signed him. Martin Vickers even posted a Picture of a T-Rex (Williams Nickname) on Twitter. I Tweeted asking if this meant he had defo signed and he removed it without reply. I assume Sheens knows him pretty well as it was him who picked him for Australia, and I assume it was him who warned us off the same as with Taylor. Hes a good player but has a rep for being Lazy and Im not sure that's what we need currently. Overseas quota is full anyway.

| I thought Dave Taylor had a pretty good game against Wigan with the bad conditions. Would of defintley had him without a doubt. Just hope Sheens isn't being stubborn and realises the difference in quality between NRL and Super League.

| It was Dave Taylor that Sheens warned us off, not entirely sure but don't think Williams has had off field issues, just one of application.

| Both were warned off apparently by Sheens. Like I said I hope his stubbornness won't harm us as by now we could of had a decent front row if we did get Taylor and Williams.

| Why is it stubbornness? If he feels neither are right to fit in with what the club are trying to achieve then they are not right!
Williams is also a second row not a prop so why with people saying we need a specialist prop would signing a second-row to push in to prop be any better than what we already have?

| It stubborness because he's seems to be basing it off performances in the NRL without thinking of the gulf in class between the competition. Dave Taylor was suppossed to be 'lazy' yet had a decent game at Wigan. All i'm saying is that we wouldn't be having problems with the forwards now if we went for players such as Taylor and Williams.

Aye, mind when Kevin Locke had that decent game too? The first thing we should be looking at with new players is attitude. We've found time and time again that, however talented, players that aren't going to put a shift in / split the dressing room / like a drink etc. etc. just aren't worth the time and money.
The squad this year could be one of two things: either Koukash has decided he doesn't fancy pouring much more money down the drain, or he's doing what he should have done 2 years ago and is letting the right people take the time to build a long-term squad with a mix of youth and the right quality when it's available. Hopefully it's the latter, but nothing would surprise me with Salford anymore.

How do you know exactly what Tim Sheens is basing his decision on? You are making an assumption that this is the reason but you do not actually know do you? Dave Taylor has one OK game and again that's justification to say we should have got him. I remember a few players the past couple of years who had one good game and yet were not consistent and generally followed that up with poor games.
If the coaching staff do not believe they fit in to what they are trying to build and achieve then I will go with that decision, regardless of what they decide to not wanting them. It's not me with my head on the chopping board at the end of the day should they not deliver. They have said publicly a number of times they are working to a 3 year plan to build what they want to achieve not rushing out to plug gaps after 1 game against a big, decent team.

| Good post, Ayres Rock.
Our team is very young in general, and to slowly build that youth element into an experienced backbone for the Club takes time, effort, and a lot of forethought. I see this season as building the foundations of what's to come, and agree with AR in that Salford of old would panic and go and buy whatever was available to plug a gap. I don't see Watson or Sheens as people who panic easily. They've left some wad to one side in case we need it with injuries or someone truly exceptional suddenly becomes available. I'm happy with that, and while I myself have concerns over our front line pack, I'm sure the coaching staff know better than I.

| my main concern is if we lose BMM for a period of time (i pray we don't) then we lose real size, pace and presence in the team. Another big prop must be on the agenda for the coaching team imo.

| Thought the pack did really well last night. George Griffin had a great game and I think we will see him blossom this year. Don't think we need to panic buy just yet.

| As far as I know, think they will go for an old head for a season to replace Morley and be a mentor to the Walnes and Griffin.
