He has definitely had his issues, most of them alcohol-related, but he's generally a well-liked individual, popular with his team mates, and he did very well both on and off the field in his short spell at Fev. Not excusing his past misdemeanours, but he's far from the loathsome individual you are portraying.

No its not full of people who sit in judgement. You possibly forgot about the internet people who will come up with any amount of excuses for criminal and cheating behaviour. Even if that behaviour spans over a decade and the person involved is not a 'kid'. Or the people on the internet who may think the conduct of players off the pitch does matter.

Fortunately for fans who want players with long records of being good role models the bad apples often leave / disrupt / regularly underperform / look to leave early or crash and burn.

South Sydney are synonymous with the bra boys. lots of NrL players affiliated with the surf gangs. Russell Crowe narrated the bra boys documentary. South Sydney play music on dressing by a bra boy - my brothers keeper something or other. Reasonably normal for the Aussies so wouldn't worry too much.

He is actually very popular in the dressing room and can play a bit. Defo worth taking a punt on him.

We win and nobody posts for the next week, we lose, the whole world is against us and Marwan is pure evil, then we sign a new player and the club gets slated for the morality of it. I know many fans from other clubs don't like Salford taking players way from their clubs, main example being Chase/Cas situation, but they wouldn't go attacking Wigan, Leeds or Saints for poaching players. Whether we are still languishing at the front of table, or not, for the majority of games this season we have been competitive and with slightly better defence on the fringes we'd probably have won a few more. There are concepts of team sport Marwan clearly didn't appreciate, but he's learning and we possibly need a couple of seasons more to start producing on a consistent basis.

I'm all for open discussion, but this constant bashing of the club is getting ridiculous.

Plenty of judgements, Just not all the way you imply.

Some people simply judge a decade of drinking offences, violence and a drug ban as indicators of poor character - others clearly do not.

Its possible that Salford's 'predeliction' for such players has not been very effective. No doubt there will be some that judge that player characters have no impact on a team's performance.

Anyway, what about Iain Thornley as a signing?

SL has many players with faults - its up to the Coaches to correct the players behaviour (Johnson is a good example). Sometimes in life you have to start with a fresh piece of paper.
