While I take my hat off for the overall performance today a couple of things struck me.

The continuous short drop off ball too a runner heading back inside would be much more productive if it was an occasional move rather than the go too play.

Why in the second half when Hardaker took the first few high balls (he might be a world class tool off the pitch but he is truly brilliant full back) did we not vary the kick?

When Leeds switched Sampson and his girly hair doo to the wing with Burrow lined up inside him did we not get the ball to Sa'u on that side, for all Burrow is a good player going forward you'd think that him and someone who looked like he couldn't tackle a good breakfast if he was hungry would have struggled in defence.

Agree MR - the drop off well overused today. Dummy runners hardly seen. Poor in attack but defence solid.

Sa`u very poor today - rarely parts to his winger at all & Johnson deserves better service.

Tasi too should time his runs better - he is hardly going a trot when he gets the ball when he should be at gallop speed.

Evalds top notch - such awareness - HUGE future.

I agree, Evalds has the number 1 spot, Locke shouldn't walk back in.

I can't see Locke playing for us again to be honest. MK is lauding Evalds, and rightly so. Harris is singing his praises, and Locke seems to have disappeared off social media which is an ominous sign. I can see a departure at some point in the near future. Would free up a wedge of money for next year to bring in some quality forward replacements.

I hope he doesn't go. I'd love to see a fully fit and committed Locke fight his way back in. It can only be a good thing to have that competition. I just feel that for one player who will be earning big money to continually under-perform it will only be a matter of time.

I thought todays game was good, great defence against the league leaders. But i question the decision of awarding a top of the table clash, with a 2nd rate ref and linesmen.

He the ref had not got a clue, and the Leeds team played him to the max, never 10yrds , forward pass, and the questioning of the try Salford scored in the first half.

I can never work out with the RFL when a match is on SKY we have a so called TOP ref in the middle and two other so called TOP refs running the line.

Is it TV stardom they are after or reffing the match ????????

Top marks to the team Nail stood out as a class above Kevin im afraid to say, in attack and defence, Theo had a good game , a few more games with dobo and wee could see a good pairing, Rangi mat not walk back into the team. i thought the forwards who came in did well and a couple more games together and they will be good, Gee played well for the amount of time he had on the pitch,.
As a game the tactics were wrong in places, more passing out to the wings mite have give us a different result, but no complaints apart from the poor standard of the ref and his linesmen.

Leeds played the ref to the max? Are you having a giraffe? The referee was poor for both sides.

LEEDS outplayed Salford the scoreline flattered the Reds , decisions went both ways

A few points from the above posts:
Locke is class, Evalds will be class - please look at videos of Locke.
How can Locke be underperforming as last season he wasn't fit & this season he has been injured. Against Widnes he demonstrated he class by having so much time on the ball & didn't drop a high ball?
Chase will always get into the team(unless injured/banned), if we lacked one thing today it was an ability to break down the Leeds defence.
Fages has a great game but we now have three excellent half backs.
All clubs use the drop off ball - it makes the defending team remain near the play the ball.
It is as much the passer of the ball error as much as the player running on to it.
I don't believe Gee got on the pitch which I thought was disappointing for him and of Harris.

Locke is class.

He has not, for whatever reason, been so for us yet. He still has a chance to show us, but I'm increasingly aware of the fact that the longer he doesn't the least likely he is to suddenly turn it around. He's also had a pre-season just like everyone else and still managed to not to be fit. Injuries you can't do anything about.

Hopefully that class will show through but I can't help feel that he's not entirely settled or committed.

Big signings either capture the supporters imagination straightaway or not at all.
I've no idea whether he's committed or not,we're just guessing but his arrival has coincided with Evalds emergence.
At the moment,he's not in the same class as Locke but we're not seeing enough of Kevin and he's not developed any momentum.
If both were fit,at the moment I'd choose Evalds as 4 tries in 2 games makes him undroppable .

Dreadful kicking game from Salford today was the only difference between the sides.

Good performance all round though.

Sums it up. That and our inability to tackle in the second half.

The ref was crap for both sides, for people to try and blame him is just a way of ignoring our own failings in the game.

Some simple errors cost us in the second half, and you can't do that against a top side like Leeds. If those errors hadn't have happened it may have been a lot closer.

I'm not disappointed with the effort though, and that's all I ask as a fan. Hopefully, they'll want to put it right next week against Leigh and put in a complete performance.

Again, agreed. We don't look a million miles off and the effort is the best it's been for a long time. We're doing alright.

At the risk of waking up the not rights who will still sleeping off the White Lightning, I do wonder if Hock going hasn't had a profound effect on team spirit. Again yesterday we watched team Salford as opposed too a field full of strangers in the same jerseys.
