| After arriving back last night I'd just like to reflect on this years trip to see the Devils play Catalans. We flew into Beziers and stopped in Beziers for two nights and Perpignan on the Saturday.
I thought we did really well to get back into the game and apart from a couple of mistakes could have taken the spoils. Lacking pace in the backs has cost us dearly this year.
I met about 12 fans in Beziers who were like minded and it made the trip a really enjoyable one. A few drinks enjoying the local culture and an enjoyable game to watch apart from the result.
I've not seen as many Salford fans at a Catalans game before and it was a great turnout. I must say that some of our fans don't do themselves or the club any favours with their behaviour.
At the game I saw our fans fighting with each other, slagging off the players, and one "fan" shouting at the injured French player to "Die you French Bas***d".
I heard comments on why didn't all the players come over to the fans. The reason why some of the players didn't are pretty obvious to me. Is it any wonder some of them appear to be lacking a bit of confidence!
Please don't let our fans get like the fans of the round ball game in the 70's & 80s.

| While every Club has Knobbers in their ranks, we proportionally seem to have a higher count of Knobber per supporter. I'm not sure what that says about us. Although I think a lot of floating supporters are round ball fans first, this may account for some of their unrestrained behaviour.

| The club should find out who the fans fighting were/are and ban them for life.
There was a couple of balloon fighting in the South stand at the last game (though one did seem to be much more culpable than the other).
As for the comments to an injured player that is simple inexcusable.

| Quality post Salford 1961,
You should come on here more often rather than the VT
I am pleased you and like minded people enjoyed the trip and most of the experience.
You have managed to explain the reason for the conduct of the players at the end of the game.I was more than surprised at the time.
It is not just the idiots in this once proud nation.[url=http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/sport/nrl/whats-the-buzz-the-nrls-crackdown-on-antisocial-behaviour-from-fans-is-hitting-the-mark/story-fnj45km6-1226904283601Getting Dealt With Elsewhere[/url
Over at another English club, where it was quite naughty, that man Daryl Powell,in my opinion, set his mind on cleaning it up and that has been continued [url=http://www.featherstonerovers.net/article.php?id=12985Recently[/url
I think it is a major contribution to the lack of attendances at games and also impacts on sponsors.Someone should ask them.
Needs addressing.I am keeping my nose clean.

| Well said my friend was a great weekend spoilt by a few. You could clearly see tim smith did not want to come over and be abused. To all those fans who stayed in Beziers thanks for making it a great weekend despite the result.

| We should have zero tolerance in RL with regards to this. Nip it in the bud before all control is lost. If you can't control yourself publicly you shouldn't be at a public event. If potential supporters and Families feel safe without having to listen to grown men act like spoiled children, or individuals who can't handle their beer and become a problem, more people would come. It's a massive draw for potential fans, knowing that there's considerably less bell-endery in our game. We've always prided ourselves on it, and we should be leaders in the field with zero tolerance.

| Salford 61. There can be no excuse for the behaviour of the "fans" you've described. Attempts should be made to identify them and deal with them appropriately.
However, they were a minority, and there is no excuse for the players not acknowledging the supporters who will have spent a lot of money to travel all that way to shout them on. But, I suspect that the terraces had little to do with that. It is more likely that, with few exceptions, they would have been embarrassed by their own performance, yet again. Great middle spoilt by poor start, poor decisions and poor finish!
I don't actually believe that fan behaviour is deterring the people of Salford from attending matches and becoming true supporters. The truth is two-fold. Despite having a rugby league club in the top flight, the majority in Salford favour the round ball game. They could possibly be attracted to SRD, but they have experienced or heard so many false dawns that they are waiting to hear the truth. Sadly, for all the money the Doc has spent, there has been negligible improvement of prospects. Some fans, even, are contemplating the possibility of relegation!
The real answer to attracting support is to provide the performances. Despite all of the hype, for whatever reasons or excuses, that has not happened. So why should we expect fringe supporters to turn to the light when it hasn't actually been switched on yet?

| Salford as a club are in a very difficult position on this matter. It's difficult for the club to police the behaviour of spectators and as someone has already mentioned it should be down to the individual to behave in a manner which integrates them will fellow fans.
Sadly morals in this country are continually reduced in every aspect and as such you are going to get problems.

| One thing the club should emulate would be the pre-match music.
I am not suggesting the dirge that is the cover version of Bad Moon Rising is responsible for our slow starts, but it hardly lifts the spirit of the supporters and cannot be described as upbeat or uplifting.
The young lady wearing the white outfit wasn't too bad either.
The French promote local talent...we do the hell in a handcart very well.

| Fortunately it seems to be a very small minority. I just can't understand the logic of paying money to support a team and then turn on players verbally if things aren't going as hoped.
I can understand disappointed fans choosing not to applaud players if they come across to acknowledge the fans at the end of a game, but to scream abuse is pointless and won't help them play any better the following week. All this will achieve is knock players confidence even more and make them wish they were playing elsewhere.

RDP I think music may have its place in getting the team and fans more upbeat at the start of a game. We have the aforementioned Bad Moon Rising together with another classic "Dirty Old Town". Whoever chose these two must be a glass half empty type of person.
Your earlier point about cleaning up the game should be something the club needs to look into. I go to most Home and Away games and there's always some clown being abusive , aggressive or both.

Martin, me and you must have a different view of acceptable behaviour or the issues must have passed you by.
I know that most teams have their small minority element but we seem to have a larger element than most.

Wirecutter this was one of the points I was trying to get across. Who is going to perform at their best when the first time they make a mistake they're berated by a bunch of screaming banshees with the intelligence of an amoeba.
On the other hand if we as a group get behind the players and coach and understand that players as well as ourselves make mistakes. They will undoubtedly perform more like the team we want.
