In todays MEN the trusted RL correspondant has posted an article regarding the Reds CEO Martin Vickers.

In it he quotes Martin and his joy at working for the Reds, nothing wrong there. He then goes on to state that " Showtime starts tomorrow night with a pre-season friendly against Leigh at the sports Village" to which Barker quotes MV as saying " this is the moment we have been waiting for since last September when we rebranded,".

He is without doubt the most stupid journalist, his knowledge of RL could be written on the back of a cig packet.

More importantly he does damage with comments like this, imagine you get a new fan wanting to support Salford or indeed Leigh and they read that, turn up and low and behold no game, that potentially would be him/her lost to the game and out of pocket.

I dont think this is Neil Barkers fault. When it comes to RL he is quite knowledgeable, he is also an avid follower of Salford Red Devils and was in attendance at the Leigh game on Friday so I cant imagine this error is his doing.

I can only imagine he writes a story, passes it on to his editors and they decide as/when to publish.

JGR it's not his first gaff is it.

It certainly isnt, but as I say I think the majority of them are the editors fault rather than Barker's.

Poor from them though.

It is in today's Evening News, so back Marshy on this one. However in my opinion not a Rugby League issue, more an issue of poor Proof Reading by whoever undertakes this role at the MEN.

I smiled when I read it but felt any news is worthwhile when compared to the page-sized adulation of Sale that is getting regular.

Is anyone remotely surprised when the Comic gets it wrong?

I'd not trust them if I was reading that it was night time by torchlight.
