Quote ="Nankivell"Although I knew it went on, I was surprised to note the number of double decker buses parked in Bolton Wanderers' Middlebrook car park. There was probably 40 or 50 of them and it struck me that Salford should try the same thing. Basically these buses pick up from different points around Bolton, take the fans to the match then return them to the vicinity of their homes. This provides a service to the fans, keeps traffic off the roads and promotes team spirit in different areas of the town.
Maybe not with double deckers to start, but, instead of just two pick up points as in the past, it could work for Salford.'"
This was tried in the first season at the stadium, the club put on coaches from various points across the city: The Williows, Eccles, Irlam train station, Trafford centre and the Chill factor if my memory serves me right. Obviously there wasn’t enough interest/take up as the club stopped it pretty sharpish (or maybe that was due to finance at the time?). They were running quite regular from these points, I think it was every 30 minutes from about 5ish? (someone will correct me on that I’m sure), maybe if we ran coaches from these various points less frequently say one coach at 6.30 and one at 7.15 it will work better? If the demand then increases just increase the number of journeys/coaches. So far for this coming season there is going to be a park and ride scheme based at the Trafford Centre.
