| There's an article on the club site about the winner of the name the nag contest and it quotes the winner as saying that there will be a new club shop open next month.
This true does anyone know? and where will it be?

Why? I've never been there and it doesn't look inviting so whats the attraction. Do you have to pay to park there?

| Doubt the shop will be anywhere other than the new stadium, would be a good idea if though the club did from time to time went out into different communities with a supply of stock and maybe players and tried to sell them to a new audience.
I'd personally like to see the club work on the association with ASDA Trafford Park and the Weatherspoon outlet next to Chill Factoré. Both have heavy footfall and I'd guess the club would have nothing to lose and only things to gain from trying to promote themselves more.

It's just comes flooding back when they used to have a small space on the Precinct, a girl from our school used to work there and if my memory serves they have a contraption for a draw to be made in one of the walk throughs.

| I use to love going in that small shop when i was a kid. I use to beg my parent to take me on Salford so could visit that every week.
It would be good in some regards to have a shop presence like that somwehre but on Salford maybe not these day. It would be much better if they could get a deal done with a supermarket to stock or even better a small shop in the trafford centre.
could you imagine the foot through from not only our fans, but you often see other rugby jerseys floating about in there so you would attract other fans who would nosey just out of interest. You also have prime positioning within one of the biggest centres to advertise the club to death if so chosing too. If ever money should be thrown at something this would be the best way.
the club also need to get better merchandise on offer. One of the main draws of that old shop was the variety on offer. Posters, cards, sticker albums, different tops, even other items such as shoulder pads. You offer the same things like that and it will sell. I know because my son has already put on his Christmas list to santa that he wants these very such items.

| It'd be great if we could have a section in a few supermarkets, and of course a place at the stadium. The Trafford Centre would be great too, but also super-expensive I imagine.

| Of course it will be at the stadium, vast majority of sales are on match day. On line purchase (if we can sort it out) is the way forward. The club are now firmly based at the stadium with training and players facilities all based there, so makes sense to have your retail outlet there.

| How about taking advantage of our business partner, Peel, and opening a place at the Lowry Outlet? I say that every time I'm in there. In terms of generating a positive image, surely an increasingly popular outlet situated at the increasingly popular Quays is something the club could benefit from?
Meh, I'm no expert on such matters so happy to be told why not.

What's the foot fall like in there these days? Does it get busy? Not been in for years.

It looked at one point like a massive white elephant but when you go now it's very busy.
Did think the other day if the club could maybe look at trying to get the RFL to part fund an outlet in say the Trafford Centre? they can peddle all things RL in general, tickets and promote the game and we can have all our gear and with the Docs smarts I'm sure that would bring in new bums for the empty seats but also maybe attract some corporate interest too.

Far busier than it was but I wouldn't describe it as busy, per se. With continuing development in the area, surely it can only get busier?

| If we were to have the club shop anywhere other than the stadium, then we need to sell a wide range of products - not just Salford gear. If we had it as a sports shop, selling boots, head guards, gum shields, the under armour type stuff, then it may attract not just Salford fans, but also parents with kids wanting gear for their new season whether it being rugby or football...it opens it up to the general sports market, as well as it being linked with Salford.

| I'm not in anyway involved in retail so couldnt be sure, but I would imagine the rental costs in the Trafford Centre would be high enough to ensure anything RL related wouldnt work in there. We cant even call on favours from Peel since they sold it off to Intu.
The Lowry isnt a bad shout, free parking if you spend over a fiver, busy location but would it generate more sales than a club shop within the stadium? I doubt it. We're aiming to attract at least 6,000 fans to each home game next season, if say 10% of those people each spent £20 in the club shop that's £12k per game income and £144k over the course of 12 home games. I dont think we'd make anywhere near those kind of sales anywhere else in the City.

| For what it's worth, Sale only open the shop on match days, they rely on e-ordering on all other days. By the time you have paid staff costs etc you end up making a loss on all but match days. If the shop is at the stadium you could have staff available to answer a buzzer and serve when needed instead of waiting around, taking a wage and doing nothing for the vast majority of the day. Commercially this is much more viable than having an off site outlet.

| Agree with Bill another dedicated outlet off the stadium site would be financial suicide
I wonder whether there would be any mileage in attempting to get merchandise into the major sports retailers - clearly there's a calculation to be made on whether increased sales at a drastically reduced margin is worth it, and whether sales through such outlets would reduce direct sales from our own shop and on-line sales too?

| The presence away from the stadium and in a shopping centre would give much craved exposure. You would think it would run at a loss in terms of sales but I am sure it would be loose change to the doc and look at it more from getting the word of the club out. Take for instance the lowry, How many people who work within media centre and other businesses in the area must pass through there on a regular basis. How many of these same people will go anywhere near the stadium or get any glimpse of advertising exposure from the club? You set it up right and move some of the admin team and / or the foundation down there and use as office space as well and it then gives a multi purpose plus gets the club in the community.

| I disagree, keep the club shop at the stadium. I doubt there are any examples within RL where having a presence of a club shop in a town centre or shopping centre has made any credible improvements in exposure and such.
What's the point of paying thousands of pounds in rent, fitting out a shop, wages just so every now and again someone with no knowledge of Salford Red Devils see's our shop? There not going to purchase anything. I'd much rather we spent that money elsewhere.
Just my opinion of course.

This, unhappily, is closer to the truth imo.
