Just read an interesting article by Johnny Hepworth re Longy at Featherstone.

Apparently the players are enjoying their RL as he has introduced a 3 pivot system and players are running totally different lines. They are playing with flair and imagination and the players have bought into his methods.

Surely its not too late to get him back here as we should have the best half back combination in Super League and with great respect to Brian Noble and his 5 drives and a kick approach that too will have to change in 2014.

Nice bloke though Stuart Donlan undoubtedly is but we now have a team of Internationals who have been there and from an ego point of view wont enjoy listening to ex-players who havent made that grade. Longy has - and despite his maverick tendencies he is still revered in many quarters and for me would be an excellent addition to the staff again.

Long would fit in nicely with the rest of the alleged drunks , druggies, woman beaters , flashers and gamblers that you will have in your squad. Call yourselves a family club ? I'm surprised you didnt try to sign Joel Monaghan to complete the set of loonies !

I think the Sean Long boat has sailed to be fair, I have seen an improvement since Noble took over and we look a lot better coached outfit.

I always felt that Long took far too much credit for the way we played, Vievers was head coach and made the call yet anything good we did was long and anything bad was vievers!

Good luck to him at Fev but Noble and his team have and will make us a well drilled efficient points scoring machine

I don't think you need to reach the heights as a player to become a good coach.It has certainly been proved in soccer,and I don't think Trent Robinson reached the heights as a player but his coaching record in 2 countries is very impressive.
It seems Mr Long has been instrumental in persuading one half back to remain at Featherstone after reports he had signed for Halifax.That player,an international for Ireland,stated he (Long ) 'has added an extra dimension'.

Long coaching Chase & Smith would be immense. The defensive structure has improved under Noble but for me we have lost an attacking edge we had when he was around.

When people say we should get Long back are they forgetting that he chose to leave? It's not like the decision is ours to make.

Well Michigan Red I think it also fair to say that we lost our attacking edge because we lost most of our attacking players, Patten, Moon, Holdsworth, Smith. I am not decrying Sean Long and I would be happy if he returned, but as said elsewhere, his decision to leave!

I think the attacking play has changed since Long left.

Hard to explain but it looks more regimented like the players have been told to not throw it around as much.

Can someone explain the attacking prowess that we had under Sean Long's guidance? All i saw was a full back hitting the line as a second standoff? Which most teams do!

Long was a good influence on the u20's and younger lads.
Our main squad attacking tactics changed when we lost Patten Moon Smith Holdsworth, things went simpler because we hadn't the class . That will change next year.

You'd like to hope that when a Club signs Rangi Chase and Tim Smith, they'd be considering using them to be more than just a pivot.

38 tries in 13 games since his departure.

Not at all mate, I'm absolutely delighted with the last week and am more excited than I have ever been. I am only looking retrospectively which you must agree has been dissapointing

Disappointing, but hardly unexpected. I would prefer to look at the positives, adversity has meant that our younger players have been tested at a higher level sooner than expected and have met the challenges. All good preparation for next year. The more experienced players have had a mixed season, but with so much uncertainty around the place once again hardly unexpected.
