caught the back end of an interview on the radio about the doc buying a football club and starting up a tv chanel. anyone else know anything about this?

The doc seems to like the challenge of clubs that have been starved of success over recent years so my money is on Liverpool. It's part of his master plan to recreate the 1970's

If this is a local club I'd look at this as an indicator that the Doc is closer to getting his stake in the Stadium than we thought. I know the sum total of very little about Salford wendyball club other than they play near the old Cousins factory so maybe he'd want them playing at Barton and then improve the facilities for players as he has mentioned a few times.

Are you all not slightly worried?

I am! Very worried, personally wouldve liked him to focus on us and keeping his promises before branching out in to football. Does this mean we will have less finance & also he will spend less of his time with us if he buys a football club? He has said he needs to spend majority of his time with a but will tht focus now change?

It's Bolton Wanderers and we will soon be relocating to the Reebok. They were a championship club 5 years ago, are a championship club now, local to him, once a huge club???

The MEN reckons it is Oldham Athletic.
The Oldham rugby league club,with whom Salford are dual-registered,are reported to have bounced a cheque worth £300 a total of 4 times.( Intended for a lottery winner )
I cannot help thinking if the RFL had made a decision on the Salary Cap then whatever money is spent on the soccer club could have gone towards recruiting some players from the NRL.

Salford City would have been the dream but that's never going to happen. Oldham I can see as a viable club who are in need of a penny or two or even P.N.E., Burnley or Bury but by mentioning glory days I doubt Bury would fit into that.

A championship club was mentioned, a loose guess could it be Preston ?(used to be a great club) his words.
If it is a club further a field, would he relocate Salford there or buy Salford stadium and move the football club to Barton. With a championship club he would have to increase the capacity at barton

I don't want to alarm anybody but didn't the Doctor say in an interview only 3 months ago that he used to follow Liverpool but fell out of love with football?

He says a lot of things.

I am not familiar with Boundary Park,home of Oldham FC other than a hardy soul informed me that it was very cold there.
If the purchase is to develop the stadium and the surround I do still hope that the gentleman named at the Forever Reds meeting,recently,is still solely tasked with all things Salford Red Devils and isn't distracted by having to give his attention elsewhere.
The job required at Salford is going to be 24/7.
That stated,I am beginning to think some people can manage on the limited sleep that Lady Thatcher allowed herself.
