| I concur, great to see us competiting against Saints. Encouraging to see just the 14 points conceded too, the rugby genius is doing as good a job as could be asked.

| Was Noble there then? Listened on radio, sounded like we were better side & should've won but I'd have settled for that score line before game, well I'd have settled for anything under 40 to be fair! Well done AH & all the boys. To do that without 2 of our best props was a tremendous effort.

| I know Mcpherson has had an op. All I ever want from a Salford team is to give 100% effort and it seems as though we got that tonight. I think we have some good young talent and if we can sign some top class experienced players , they will start to blossom.

| Great response after last weeks expected result. I wonder what difference it made to the boys having a 7 day turn around instead of 5?

| I was full of admiration for both teams tonight as the conditions were atrocious. I think you edged us for ball security, kicking game, enthusiasm and playing to the conditions. Sneyd was good. He could be a real find if he continues to develop.
I also want to say well done to your fans. That as many showed up as did on such a terrible night and after a difficult season so far was good going, and there was plenty of vocal support throughout from them. I hope everyone got home safely as the travelling conditions worsened while the game was being played.

| Dr Koukash said he won't accept not being the best etc. So why are people on here raving over a narrow loss? If he reads this he will ban you all from all future games

| I thought last night was the best performance of the season so far. Considering we were missing McPherson, Mauro and Jewitt and lost Gleeson, Fages and Williams in the course of the match, there was much to be pleased with. With a bit more composure, a better kicking game in the second half and fewer penalties conceded we could have won that game against all the odds.
The conditions were worse than I've known in years but we gave it 110% throughout. I thought Griffin was excellent and Ashurst had one of the best games I've seen from him, though I thought our most impressive player was Sneyd. Alan Hunte has to be commended for playing him in the full back position as he may just have discovered our full back for many years to come.
For what it's worth I thought Nero made contact with the ball in the first half when he followed that kick through. From where we were in the "open" stand I thought it was a try. It would be interesting to see it again.
What we now have to achieve is that level of performance every week and the rest of this season would be much rosier!

| Having spoken to Alan Hunte numerous times, I know he is a great believer in giving youth a chance, if they are good enough. What is really refreshing is that having talked the talk, Alan has been brave enough to give some of the kids a chance and not just select the obvious candidates. Some of Phil Vievers shoe in players have been left out by Alan proving he is his own man and not afraid to make his own decisions. Mr Hunte I have been impressed with your tenure however long it lasts

I didn't wish to comment on this thread but once there appears to be a disservice to Phil Veivers, then comment I will.
( I don't know either coach ) I believe it was Phil Veivers who gave first team opportunities to both Theo and to Marc Sneyd.I am unaware who you class as shoe-in players.
While Phil Veivers seemed to have to employ a 'patch 'em up and put 'em back out' system was it necessary to put Danny Williams back out again, following his earlier return and further injury instead of trying the young loan player Jack Murphy, from Wigan, against their closest rivals ?
While I have no complaints about Alan Hunte I feel it only fair to remind people that Veivers has coached the side to their only victory this season.

| Apologies if you feel I have given Phil Vievers a disservice, I did not intend to, nor do I think I actually did. The point I was making was that Alan had been pushing the kids as some of the first team players were not producing. It would have been easy for Alan to keep with the status quo but instead he backed up his commitment with selections. Let us not just look at the last few games but also last season where towards the end we were woeful. Alan has been pushing the kids for a good while, but they were only selected when we were short of numbers. Alan has selected the team based on attitude and performance at training, and current form. I accept he is interim and has nothing to lose, whereas Phil ultimately lost his job. I am not trying to be smart or controversial, merely praising Alan for the courage of his convictions.

| I think Hunte has very done well as a caretaker coach but would he rather not return to his previous role with the financial backing of the Dr behind it? I think a big part of the improvement is players have woken up and smelt the roses! The players realise they can either dig in, give everything and be part of a club on the up or be shipped out in time to wherever. Young players are particularly keen when they can see something fantastic in the horizon.

| I'd like to see the club reward Alan Hunte for his past efforts by investing in the best academy setup in Superleague. To do this we have to give outstanding young prospects an extremely good reason to join us rather than being wooed by the usual clubs. Perhaps now we have the financial means to build the best training facilities, have the best equipment and support this the best junior development coaches in the game. Invest in the best and the rewards will come.

| We've always know Alan Hunte was a rugby genius .
Hunte & Long ( lets not forget about him ) have managed to coax two performances of heart from the two away fixtures, from a injury ridden squad .
Whoever the new coach ,He's done himself no harm , we just need to get that level of commitment at the SCS .

Commitment yes but it will only get you so far. It's also about having a strong squad capable of putting in consistent performances week after week. Fair play to Hunte for having the courage to play some youngsters, it will certainly add competition for places.
