I noticed today Dr Koukash has admitted defeat in trying to bring Adrian Morley to Salford. Intresting though as he then said they have already started targeting others and said there could be developments in the next few days.

I think the morley one could be a blessing although i feel we should make a bums on seats type signing Morley is really at the end of his career and maybe not even having another season in him.

Does or as anyone heard of any other potential targets?

Does koukash seriously think that any team willbe willing to sell/move on any quality players at this point in the season, let alone attract that calibre of player with current standards of the squad, even tho things may improve over the season, there just arn't the players around now ??

Precisely what I've been saying. Besides taking on a player that falls out of favour at their current club, which in itself carries risk (eg. Hock), we'll struggle to attract elite players at this point.

Red Preacher - what exactly do you want the Doc to do? Not approach any clubs re: their contracted players? Only sign sub standard players?

Whilst Morley is past his best - he is a Salford lad. In my opinion for one year, it would have been a good signing for the club, passion in the shirt and all that....

I would have thought getting Mozza on a year rolling deal and signed onto the coaching staff as defencive coach would have been perfect.

I expect him to do as you suggest in your final comment but not to be surprised if he repeatedly gets knocked back.

My thoughts exactly. Would have set him up nicely for the end of his career.

alas it is just not meant to be. I do think though if Wood is out of favour at Warrington, he may be appearing soon.

question - does anyone know of any big names in the UK that are not finding regular first team action and maybe interested in being showered in glory?

The Dr is in exactly the same situation as City were when they came into money.You have to make a "big name" signing to persuade others to come.As we stand the new signings we have smack of the same old Salford.You have to make a breakthrough signing or no-one will come thats any better than those we have had previously.

Dont know how you are for quota but Sydney Roosters are trying to offload a bucket full of decent young players!

I know a few on here would love to see morley at salford but i think it would be more of an emotional move than anything else. You have to remember at wire he is surrounded by great players. He is a player that is well well past his best and in a poor side would be found out, i also feel Adrian knows this and is the reason why he has not tried to engineer the move i mean at the end of a career why wouldnt you want a last pay day. I think Salford should move on and get some fringe players in for this season whilst behind the scenes concentrate on some real quality for next season.

With funds available like we have now I'd have said break the bank if Morley was 3-4 years younger but he's got months left in him now, not years.

You've made a bid to sign Darrell Griffin from Leeds who is considerably out of favour at the minute.

Griffin is a player who could be good but had an attitude problem and got kicked out at the Giants may have upset the applecart at Leeds.

Could give you some good go forward though if his head is in the right place.

Only heresay but there is a strong rumour that they are Vince Mellars and Isaac John from Wakefield.

That would be good business for Wakefield.

Mellars and John - think Mellars can do a job for you he can play wing centre or second row I think he would be better on the wing as hes not short of pace and a big lad.John well I dont think he has it and at 24 is running out of time he has done the odd thing but once a game aint enough.There are some that think he could still be a very good player.
As for players out there you are behind the ball just as we were before the start of last season.There are players who are not getting game time who you might just get and prove to be a revalation.Have a look who we signed at Wakey and what people thought Lauititi they said over the hill we are getting some great game time from,Raleigh,Kirmond and Wood from Hudds Raleigh has been a very good signing and some said an average joe as with Kirmond,Wood has played his part from the bench.
Just have patience and Im sure things will come good and lets face it only a few month ago it looked like you would not make it through but thank god thats not happened and Salford are still here.

I think most reasonable Salford fans would agree with you. We might have a bit of cash now but it's next to useless this time of the year. We're left picking-up scraps and left-overs, which is no disrespect to those players. Some players lift when faced with a new change of scenery and hopefully we can find a few of those to take into next season, when hopefully we can bring in better quality players.

I'm thankful we've got a team out there, even if it's struggling at the moment. We're improving and when we get a few more guys in we'll pick up.

As you say its the unfortunate time of the year Salford are looking at other players and next season will show a much stronger side of that Im sure but dont compleatley write this season off I can see the odd upset along the way thats the nature of the game at times.
