| It seems that Garrido and the councilors did us a big favor when they stopped the loan.
If it had been given,we would have been going nowhere, thank god for democracy, and also it seems the
good Dr did not think much of the clubs books.

| From what the doctor said I think Nigel Woods at the RFL deserves to become an honorary Salfordian.

Does make you think that they (the RFL/SL) see Salford as one of hell of a good shout to really progress. Wonder how long he's been interested in finding an opening to invest in RL and if Wood tried to sell him on Cas or Bradford?

| Turning down the loan was not a decision made by councillors, it was made by the mayor's cabinet. I agree with the sentiments of the first post though.

| Of course the council will part with their share of the stadium they need at least some money back, if they don't sell and the reds go under they get zero loan repayments back. So it's either something back or nothing I think I know what our skint council are going to choose. It's peel holdings that will be more of a problem? But as sale are in free fall they have to think about cutting their losses too.

| It's a given the council will sell for me to re coup as much money as possible and think Peel will make the decision to sell as it looks like its going to take them a huge amount of time start making a profit from the stadium. Peel will make a pretty much instant profit from the relatively cheap to construct retail units around the stadium.
I'd like to know if the Dr did end up owning the stadium would then ultimately Sale be paying Salford rent and then be looking to get the rumoured 3rd (though in fact 2nd) tennant moved in?

| if we do end up owning the stadium outright and we have Sale and A N other tennant does that mean that we can spend the full salary cap because that is income to the club or does it still go off our crowd figures.

| the income is on the club, so if the ground is part of the club then it will count. however the cap is about a set of rules.
income v plaers wages with a cap

| The salary cap is simple, if you can afford to spend the full cap you can. It used to go off crowd sizes that was abolished some years ago. If the doctor can raise upto the 1.65 million salary cap then he can spend it. I'm sure one of the recent reports said he is planning to spend the full cap this year?

| Sale said they'd bought the naming rights. I'm not sure whether a (partial) change of ownership would change that without buying them back off Sale or offering them a refund.

If Mr Koukash does purchase the stadium what are peoples thoughts on the name of the stadium and the stands ?
Could the stadium have a more user-friendly,spectator-seductive
title than the SCS ( Salford City Stadium ) and the COSS ( City Of Salford Stadium ) ? Naming it the Lance Todd Arena may give recognition to heritage and history but is that too far back for a modern breed of rugby league spectator ?
Should the West Stand become the Koukash Family Stand ? The East Stand The New Shed ? Should the south stand become the
Andy Gregory stand to recognise his achievements;his efforts for Salford,as coach and recently, and as a constant reminder to hold onto young players at the club ! Andy could open the stand at the last game of the season, against Widnes, the club he went to from Salford, and with Denis Betts in attendance as Widnes coach,
Graham Lowe could relive some memories.
The away stand could become the Adrian Morley stand as a proud Salfordian who went away and achieved honours in Australia and on the international scene.
It would be good for Dr Koukash to meet the greats of rugby league with Salford connections.
Whether the developments will lend themselves to naming the stadium 'Port Salford Sporting Complex' which would give a nod to Peel Holdings while retaining the name Salford in the title.
Would people except 'The New Willows' ? Barton Park ?
A possible title would be 'The Koukash Family Stadium For Salford'. The Koukash name could be replaced by the name of any sponsor and it would still be '........Family Stadium For Salford.'
Whether that attracts new numbers may depend on success on the field.
Any other suggestions while we wait for announcements ?

| It's already been unofficially dubbed the Gus Risman Stadium. Job done on that front.
As for naming the stands, nothing daft and gimmicky and no naming stands after people. Let's do it in the traditional way.
Main Stand (The Willows Main Stand, maybe?)
Peel Green End
River End (River Irwell End?)
Barton Stand / Motorway Side
This is, of course, all hypothetical...

| I couldn't give one TBH :-
The important matter is the deal is concluded for the Club , our debts are paid , and I can carry one supporting the Reds this season.
We don't know what type of deal is being negociated for the Stadium & surrounding development , outright ownership or an element of shared ownership with one or both parties?
The only thing that matters is that it is successful & doesn't derail the whole deal.
If that happens , our Club is saved & we have a stake in the property to boot . he can damn well re-name everything down to the kiosks & the toilets with my blessing

| The Lance Todd arena sounds bloody brilliant to me since we still have the Lance Todd trophy rl fans will know exactly where that comes from so it's not too far in the past.
I have to disagree wroth GT tho........I like the ideas of making the stands after someone of note. Wigan have got the Boston stand and I think thats great. They would need to catchy tho and not long winded.
I agree with middleman tho...the most important thing is the deal done!!!!!
