Official Club Statement

Salford City Reds can confirm that the result of this morning’s court hearing was a further adjournment until Monday 4th February 2013.

This additional time has been granted following careful consideration of the current position regarding new investment into the business.

All concerned parties agreed that there was a real possibility that a positive conclusion could be reached and that this would be preferable to the execution of the lodged winding up petition against Salford Football Club 1914 Ltd.

Reds Chairman John Wilkinson said:

“Everyone is working every available hour to ensure that the on-going negotiations progress forward into an outcome that secures the future success of the Salford Rugby League Club. We appreciate what a stressful time this is for staff, players and supporters and thank you all for your patience and understanding.

“What today’s ruling provides is the time needed to secure the investment and we are grateful for the opportunity to do so.
One thing is foremost in our minds - Salford’s rugby club must continue for the fans of today to enjoy and for the generations of fans to come.”

The club will endeavour to inform all stakeholders of progress at the earliest opportunity.

Salford City Reds would also like to thank all fans and sponsors who attended yesterday’s pre-season friendly, your support for both clubs was wonderful and was very much appreciated.

The Hearing was adjourned, if new owners are found HMRC may agree to a new payment plan.

Would you pay 6ook debt what isn't yours. I certainly wouldn't. Is 600k the figure needed now before 4th Feb ?

Why do you care what the figure is Phil? You clearly couldn't care less about the club. I suggest you fill your time with something that you do care about and leave those of us want this club to survive by hook or by crook to our discussions and to support the team to the best of our ability, which is only what those players (Swinton included) deserved yesterday!

Well even you might consider it if you realise that there is Guaranteed Sky Income of £2 million on the Horizon plus a playing squad of nigh on 20 players ready to compete in Super League. If its `pitched` right I think the `deal` could be concluded.

One rather obvious question - is the club bank account still frozen? As that was given as a reason for some of the difficulties in starting next season, unless there has been some relaxation then how does the club transact day to day business for the next 4 weeks?

A Company should be able to continue to trade whilst a petition is outstanding.

However the bank may have placed restrictions on the company if the bank account is overdrawn or operated with the benefit of an overdraft. This is probably what is happening with the club. The bank won't want any extension to the credit facilities.

As much as I think PYB is an annoyance, I'd like to know what those 37 are. Genuinely. I can think of a handful, but I'd struggle to make 37.

While pleased that we have survived for another month it still is an uncertain state of limbo we find ourselves in. It really does feel a long drawn out affair whos conclusion remains uncertain. Hopefully when we take the pitch against Wigan in our first game those supporters in attendance get behind whoever is in a red shirt. I cant recall a more depressing time to be a Salford fan but come opening night i will be there...no doubt to witness a defeat.

Given that the 4 week 'stay of execution' takes us beyond the season opening game what will now happen with season tickets? Are the club expecting everyone to purchase one-off match tickets without knowing if the club will exist by the time the next fixture is played?

I'll happily be corrected on this, but I think we only have 18 players who've played more than 1 game in Superleague.
