That was an "Annus Horribilis" and I for one am glad its at an end [ well nearly,as I fear there is yet more bad news to come
From day one, when we were beat by Leigh in the friendly, you got the feeling this season was not going to go well.
It only got worse when we played Cas under six inches of snow.
I got the feeling that everything that could go wrong, would and did go wrong.
We have played some fantastic rugby this year at times. BUT once again our defence has been woefull . [conceding 844 points, thats nearly double Wigans total
A long list of injuries to key players hasnt helped. { funny how Eddie Hemmings always happens to squeeze in a mention that we only beat Wire cos they had a load of players out, but never mentions our injuries
The wheels really came off when Smith jumped ship.We have basically been playing without a recognized scrum half for months
DJ has just been going through the motions since then.[Watch the interview he gave after the game last night when he confirmed he is off
At the moment I have a range of emotions going through my head.
Happiness when remembering the good games.
Despair at the thought of what is to come.
Disappointment at what could easily have been.
Anger at the club ,and certain players .
And even more disappointment in a certain "Salford" born and bred millionaire who flatley refuses to support his local rugby team, yet pours millions into sponsoring snooker, darts, horse racing etc.
Still be back next year though for more punishment.
