| Great game. Lads played some great Rugby against a top side.
Now, regardless of the fact that Wire were missing a few 'stars' (We're missing a few key players too) the best team on the night won because they played better. In this case, significantly better. My thread is not going to go into the 'But the opposition fielded a weaker side' argument. What gets my goat is commentators who weave their opinions into a job which is supposed to give you the facts about what's going on, as opposed to what they themselves think is going on. We were treated to the inevitable tirade of an understrength opposition, followed by the FACT that the elements would truly undo the home side in the second half. Then there was 'uncharacteristic' errors/play/decision-making by the opposition which surely helped the home side score twice as many points. Then low and behold, when the opposition got to within twenty points, we were treated to a possible come-back suggestion, something that would never have happened in reverse.
Commentate on the game. Give us facts and figures if you want.
I just wish that the commentary team would just 'say what they see' and talk about the game instead of bringing opinion into things. It really does not matter what happened the week before. The Month before. Or what happened over the last ten years.
I suppose what we really need, is to stop Eddie from w@nking over his beloved Wire and just do what he's paid for.

| I watched it on Sky because I live in London, but I didn't hear it that way. Eddie & Stevo gave Salford a fair crack of the whip, McCrae was very complimentary as well, and when I put the red button on Barrie, Terry and Carney all said how well Salford played. Clearly Warrington didn't have their best team out, that is their decision, but no-one I heard on the box tonight seemed to make that the reason Salford won.

| I know what the OP means. Clarke came out with something about Warrington would have won if they'd had equal share of the possession due to what they did whilst they had the ball or some such shoite!
There was a reason though Phil why they didn't have as much possession!
Eddie started getting firm at 44-18 and suggested a comeback was on but was shot down in flames by everyone else in no uncertain terms!
Well done Salford!

| Well done Salford. A much deserved win. It's not your concern Smith underestimated you and put half a side out.
But the hysteria that followed from the City Reds and their fans showed what a big fish the mighty Wire are thesedays.

| Warrington did rest a lot of players that is a fact however we should have still given you a game. If i was a Salford fan i'd be dissapointed you only won by the margin you did, you could have easily scored 60+ after going 40 - 6 up after 50 minutes. You definitely seem to play the game the right way which should be applauded hopefully now with the new stadium you can start to kick on and build your fan base up. Good luck for the rest of the season

| I was only using this game as an example of bad commentating. It happens plenty on other televised games. Perhaps it's down to individual perception and a sensitivity towards your own side. Who knows.
As for watching the game televised (A reply for Mr Mouse) I'm away in Scotland for a funeral. Hope that makes you feel better on your smug stance. At least, that's what I think he was on about, it's hard to tell...

| Well said the butcher, No words needed! well done Salford & to all those Warrington fans bleating on about who you left out, we have very little in the way of forwards but had our 3 main strike forwards out last night, much smaller squad, great win too many excuses wire.

| There was nothing wrong with the commentary.
We were ,rightly, given loads of praise.
The analysis was fair, even Smith after the match,on the red button, was at pains to give us credit.
For once, let's just enjoy a great performance on tv that was applauded by everyone.

Why as a Salford fan should I be disappointed, we felt sorry for Warrington and so we let you score a couple of tries so you could bang your drum, only dissapointment is the excuses, we have a much smaller squad and were missing 3 forwards, in effect no real pack. We pay only half the salary cap and not the sombrero covering that is the wage bill at Warrington. The biggest disappointment is that we don't play like we did last night against generally poor teams like Cas and Wakefield, it was also nice to see last night that apart from one ripping decision against and a dodgy dec at the ptb the ref got everything else right, we even won the penalty count.

Like I said last night, I actually am a bit disappointed. The performance didn't deserve a scoreline as close as that, and it *should* have been 50 - 60 points. Matty Smith showed just why bigger clubs are interested in him (and Richie Myler showed why they aren't). Nevertheless, it was one of the best performances from Salford for years, until they switched off a bit towards the end.
And we had [ifour [/iforwards missing: Jewitt, McP, Sidlow and Godwin: the first choice front row and the first choice replacement prop over recent weeks.
Nice to see Stefan acknowledge the Salford fans. Makes you kind of think his heart isn't at the HJ.

So according to that only one player was rested.
And that was wrong Tomkins struggled through the second half v Widnes on Monday and was heavily strapped on his thigh.

yes maybe but the BBC named 7 wigan players who were missing it only said two were injured so in all it was a weakened Wigan side regardless.

Tomkins - injured v Widnes as explained.
Richards has been out for two months.
Tommy L has a broken leg.
Prescott has ankle and thumb injuries.
Lima suspected fractured eye socket.
Fielden torn pec.
Hansen broken jaw.
Tuson hasn't played for three weeks
Dudson, ligament damage, probably won't play again this season.
They should have asked me.
I've probably missed a couple more.
We also lost Goulding after 10 mins and then Mickey Mac got sent off, but cr@p happens. Bradford smelled blood, and deserved their win, just as Salford did v Wire.
