| It's a gripe I know but it's something that other teams exploit, why when kicking off do we automatically go long left allowing other teams to line up a strong run from a fast forward. This not only makes it easy for then to get a roll on from the kick off but also I would have thought makes stopping that first drive tiring.
Surely mixing the length of kick and direction we send it would create hesitation for the opposition.

| The defence seems to be a bit weak on the right hand side, so maybe kicking left is the sensible thing to do.

| I've often thought this, however I believe it's because DJ defends on the other side of the field, where as the other side are all set up to defend

| The best tactic would be to kick off on a far less regular basis.

| Was talking about this exact point at Fridays match - we kick off long left each and every time. I noted that Wigan were getting snow on the ball for their kick offs it was that high, thus allowing their defensive line to be right in the face of our runner, and being able to pin us well into our own 25. Maybe we need to get more height rather than continuing with the same kick type?

| Having seen Sean Long practice for a considerable amount of time,on his own, before a game, kicking from the tee I would like to see the same professionalism shown by the Salford players.
Who,if anyone, would take the kicks should DJ be unavailable ?
If he is off-form who has the kicking responsibility ?
There is enough pressure placed upon the son of the head coach but [url=http://www.superleaguefans.com/wakefield-wildcats/2011/05/21/extra-time-costs-wildcats-in-cup.htmlin this game he got 100%[/urland in this game, after missing the first kick,he wasn't fazed and [url=http://www.thechallengecup.com/report.php?id=3379104kicked the rest.[/url
There can be lots of variation for the restart and one or two Huddersfield players have been known to drop a high ball.
Here's hoping a lot of work can be put in over a short time.

Yep. The kicking tactics only ever get discussed when we concede a number of tries and it becomes noticeable. I bet most teams, bar a couple of exceptions, kick off in exactly the same way and never vary where it goes to.

| Where is the harm in thinking outside the box every once in a while and trying something different when kicking off, give the opposition something to think about instead of the same thing time and time again every game. If Holdsworth isnt up to it, change the kicker.
