| To get majority of fans back onside?
Answers on a postcard!
I won't view my opinons this time round as I seem to get shot down the same few people who won't accept the clubs failings!

Serious question, why do you bother even reading this forum?
There's plenty the club can do to get people on side, but the thing which has annoyed me more than most is the lack of communication between the club and the fans. From shirt releases, to season ticket costs, season ticket sales, etc etc. Clearly improvement on the pitch would help, but id personally take coming away from a game happy the lads had given 100% effort for now.

| As someone said, win.
But to start winning the club really need to start bringing some academy players through. Always liked the look of Sneyd for you, but he never gets game

| There are things at the club that need doing which cost money, unfortunately as a club we run on a tight budget so any ideas need to be a guaranteed success / break even financially to be considered.
There are also things that need to be done which dont cost a penny
Communicate better with fans - Lots of people come on here and talk about emailing the club / ringing the club and not having success in getting answers to their questions, The club have various points of contact with us supporters (facebook, twitter, telephone, email and face to face in the shop) for me they seem to do well on the facebook but not all fans are on facebook.
I do feel sorry for the people in the shop / on the other end of the phone because they seem to not be told anything, they seem to be the last to know and horribly over worked when reaily they should be the 1st imo
They also lack numbers and with the current echonomic situation there must be fans who are looking for experience to add to a CV, nothing massive just a helping hand until somthing better turns up.
Im sure a good pitch to JW or DT and probably being a pain in the they would snap your hand off for some "free help" to improve the club
Id use the new buses from the willows / Trafford centre to promote away travel, with offers of discount travel with the flyer, id see if i could get a local company to sponsor it with an advert of the leaflet
Promote to kids more in Salford and the surrounding area - I would look into starting the Junior devils up again, i accept that there will be a start up cost to this but lets say a start up pack of a Signed A3 team photo (they gave them away last season), a key ring (£1), A message from Ignito welcoming you to the club (10p for paper n printing, a bar of chocolate (bought in bulk from Costco 50p per bar) a DVD of last seasons trys (say £5 to make) charge £12 per child
Id make a list of all the youth clubs / Playgroups in the area pop down some basic info / Market research on what they want / look for and see what we can do, id try and work closely with these people as they are the future now we have a nice stadium there is more chance of them coming.
Id take a bit of the offical website and market it as the kids zone, messages from ignito, player interiews aimed at kids, lots of colour, kids birthday announcements, ignito being involved
Though the season say 3 times you could invite the kids to "Skills sessons" on a Saturday or Sunday at the new stadium, Say £3 per child for 80 minutes players who are available will take a group of kids and give them a basic fun training session, Ignito will be there for photos and making it fun get Bill the photo man and his Side kick down to take some photos with Ignito Ect send them to MEN, Rugby League express Promoting these events
Id also send letters written by Ignito though the post to the children every 3 months with stories/ news of events coming up, pictures to colour, quiz, spot the difference, it will cost money to do this but again you could see if any local company would like to sponsor it for a free advert slipped in the bundle
If this a success then you would target holidays to hold events ( halloween, christmas party, Easter egg hunt) it kind of depends on the success of your recruitment if this kind of thing takes place if you can aim to hold a large event like this.
Create a bit of ownership for the people of salford - Any interviews by SS or PV to the MEN / Advertiser / Main press id stress that they mention that the team are proud of the city they represent and are humbled by the passion of the supporters and people in the city for the Rugby club, try and get the message across that Salford City Reds is the crown jewel of Salford, it gives them an Identity like Barcelona is the focus of the Catalan region of Spain
Salford is your team, its in the city come and be part of it.
Thats all ive got for now, hopefully there will be more positive ideas to come from everyone, we should all be looking to work together at this crutial time in our clubs history , it wont cost that much money to get these kind of things up and running and PR wise would be a massive step in the right direction

Some very good idea's there Optimist, all of which seem cheap in there conception, with a little bit of planning all could become a reality.
Most of all the team needs to have that winning mentality both on and off the field, nobody wants to watch a bunch of losers. ( something we Salford fans have become accustomed to. )

| Help the existing fans bring potential new fans in. So, put something on the season ticket that would allow you to bring someone to, say, two matches for free and then maybe another two at half price.
Reducing the admission fee might help (although I can appreciate the risk involved: if you don't attract enough new fans to make up for the shortfall, then you've even less money to spend). However, £20 sounds a lot more than £18.

| Change our name to Manchester
The only way for the club to grow in numbers of support, in my opinion is to put Manchester into the title.
It may annoy a few of fans, maybe a large proportion of fans, but think the benefits of such a change would be huge.
More people from outside of Salford would see the club as a team for them.
I know people that live out of salford and were put of from going to games due to the location of the club and the name.
Personally i know what its like for people to judge an area without actually visiting it and hate the idea that people do this, but i know that there are people that refrain from going to watch Salford, due to the negative image Salford is sometimes perseived as having.
As for the change of lacation the new stadium is now near enough in Trafford, so technically the location of the club should'nt be an issue for why the club can't change their name.
I also belive that the Manchester title would aslo help in increasing sponorship deals, which in turn would help to strengthen the team through increased revenue. As a larger buisness a team with Manchester in teh title rather than Salford seems a much more marketable and strong place to invest your money.
This is just my opinion, and what i think the club shoul look at, although i really don't see it happening.

Not that old chestnut again, been debated soooo many times. It's Salford and the club should never change its name, and that's from a born and bred Mancunian who's supported the club for over 40 years. Salford already [iare[/i Manchester's only professional Rugby League Club, changing the name will not bring thousands of Mancunians beating a path to our door and would alienate, forever, those that do currently support the club.

Coming from a SALFORD fan!!!
No no no, it wouldn't just upset me it'd kill me. I'd never watch a Manchester RL team, never in a million years. This is our team, our club, our City. I honestly think changing the name would do more harm than good as I recon 99% of our fans wouldn't watch a Manchester RL team.

It’s never done London any good has it, so what would be different in our case?
It’s simple we win games and fans will come.
I too would never step foot in the ground again if it ever happened.

| First thing for me is being consistant off the field. Listen to fans.
We have the club mainly communicating via twitter, all the info should be on all the platforms (facebook, Twitter in the media etc)and especially the club web site (this needs a whole redesign and face lift.)
Relaunch the Junior Reds and have regular functions and training sessions for a small cost.
Get a permanent presence at the new stadium. We have an area marked for the shop, switch on the lights and install a desk. This wll give fans somewhere to stop and ask questions or buy season tickets. Have examples of stuff to buy.
Promote the flames
Tell the fans about the income streams- is it worth drinking or parking at the stadium, does it benefit the club?

| Yes exactly, nice theory. Theres plenty of Tottenham, Millwall, Chelsea fans etc that have no links with that area of London.
I like the idea of relaunching the Junior Reds Optimist, very good post pal. In addition to "skills sessions" It would be good to get dance classes for the flames for the little uns.

| The club were making big noises about re-launching the junior reds scheme last season. It was gonna be free to sign up and once signed up you could get kids tickets for £3 per game. Not sure what happened to it.

| It was just one suggestion, i know it was drastic and thats why i said not all people would like it especially the die hards that have been going for years. I would find it difficult to take myself but can see the benefits it may bring.
I think the feel the running of our club needs to become much more professional. If you look at a large proportion of other teams in superleague they make each game a big occasion. They put on decent entertainment be it a Battle of the bands, opera singers, kids rugby games at half time, and a good standard mascot that can be used for marketing purposes gripping kids attention. Making them want to come back again.
It would also be good if Trafford could help the club and actually promote our club. Maybe one of them billboards on the way in, or even some sort of discount deal maybe (a card that if you spend over a certain amount in a shop you get a certain % off a ticket) unsure how it'd work random idea in my head there.
Just suggestions

| Salford rugby league club is dying, right before our very eyes, it's negative beyond belief, and with this current shower of you know what, nothing can save us only a change in management to which looks like it's never going to happen,(GUTTED) a new broom sweeps clean, i'll go on record by saying this is one of the worst Salford teams i've ever seen, we;ve had some bad teams in the past but this team takes the biscuit. Crowds have never improved in fact nothing has improved only our playing facilities, even a average new stadium cannot lift our disillousioned to the bone supporters, with some folk actually blaming the salford public and businessmen for being where we are today 9unbelievable).
Manchester rugby league is a racing certainty and it will be happening within 3 years with or without JW, he'll have no choice. I'll be very surprised if we get a renewed franchise especially if we fail to improve on the level 3 graded licence issued. The RFL will back it. We all know the rugby league have been crying out for this, and it's probably provides for a better model in a business sense, and also it'll increase the catchment area. Mancunians are probably more likely to watch a Manchester brand rather than a Salford. It'll be sad to see Salford go to the wal,l but i can totally see why.
Although the demising of SCR is quite evident, most people simply choose to ignore this FACT
and abuse the one's who see the light with these failing's of leadership.

| If the name does change to Manchester, would that be such a problem, its not like a merger?

| First and foremost i want SCR to succeed, but if the past 30 years are anything to go off it's good night vienna. Unless a new broom is installed with a new idea's there isn't much hope. Manchester RL isn't a bad thing i'd support it, only as a last resort, which is becoming more likely every day.
