Well there was nothing else happening so they thought they would sneak it in under the wire, wouldn't want people to know about it.

When should they have announced it? What difference would it have made?

or, they maximised the publicity. was covered live on some local BBC radio stations, I believe sky sports news carried it(?), it will be reported on throughout the day here in UK (morning, midday and evening news cycle, with written press covering it tomorrow) and was done in time so that it will get coverage in Aus/NZ morning press (as it's World Cup venues that's actually quite key). not many time slots in the week where they'd have got that much coverage.

first off , what a stupid time to tell us the venues. I strugle to see how we are going to fill a stadium if 2 low rate international teams (worse than salford) are playing. hopefully we will have full stadiums and england lifting the world cup. (although it will probley be australia)

I like how they've put Leigh under Wigan on the Salford website

I think it's excellent news for the City, the Stadium and the club. Am I right that it'll be the first full international game in Salford for 38 years and also only the 2nd World Cup game!

It rained for 2 days solid when I was there. And it was pretty grey and grim but the weather won't have helped that outlook I suppose. Nice river there though!

Impressed by the Limerick stadium.

Thought the RFL handled it quite well for all the reasons outlined. Good to know venues in advance so local venues / games can be promoted and planned properly. Better than the usual RL way of doing things at the last minute.

Drip feeding information also helps but up the event. If we announce all the venues a month before then it'll make the tournament look very small time. Think a lot of people are moaning for the sake of it.

This is a perfect time to be selling the game after the massive fall out in the England Yawnain camp after their holidays in New Zealand.

Quite happy we get a rugby league international 15 minutes from ours.
