The usual way of opening a new stadium is that the first crowd will be inflated anyway so you may as well go for a wakefield or Huddersfield type fixture, and leave the derby matches for later in the season when they drop off slightly.

I'd go for Widnes as they will bring a bumper crowd and make it a sell out I'd suspect.

I would prefer a big team as it will get a good gate and if training as gone well and we beat a top side it could attract bigger attendances for stadium and club

And by the same yardstick , you could take a battering and potentially put off loads of interested newcomers , Widnes sounds like a good idea , but it would have to be 2 nd game in as they traditionally will be on TV at home 1 st round at home

Warrington have already been muted as our 1st league home game , with Widnes in SL an Easter derby between Wire & Chemics would be obvious .

I wonder then who we will get for the good friday game then? Huddersfield?

yes i suspect it will be huddersfield unless we get picked to play them on a tuesday night
