Was chatting with a mate last night and he told me that the big pub at Barton Airport has just been bought with the express idea of turning it into a pub aimed at Rugby League fans. From what I was told they are busy doing it up and it should be open before the games start.

Didn't know the big place had been shut down, got told that the pub at the airport site is reopening so not sure which one it is if the big place has gone. I'll have to ask next weekend if I see my mate.

The old Airport hotel has indeed gone, knocked down some years ago.
Confusion may be that the old clubhouse, which is quite small, was shut for a while, then re-opened a few months back as "The Airfield Lodge" [urlhttp://www.theairfieldlodge.co.uk[/url, but it is not particularly big though very convenient for a walk across the road to the ground - I have no idea what the opening hours are though, especially on a Friday night

do they charge airport prices for drinks?

bet the landowners are regretting than decision now .

This may be nonsense, I dont know. But I was told a long while back that the Unicorn pub is being taken over by one of the large hotel chains, cant say which one (may get my son in trouble) but they have 3 hotels near the Trafford Centre.
was told they are remodeling/extending into the large carpark at the side of the pub. And this is to be used as the Salford RLFC base/hotel.
As I said though it may be nonsense.......

Was in there the other day and the land at the side of the pub, the massive carpark has been sold. Not to an hotel chain as understand it, but to a housing development company. Again I could be wrong.

Have they got a franchise for three years
