| It does make you wonder what type of 'Management' we have at our Club.
After an 'investigation' just concluded, (Alker was sent home at Easter!), it has been found that there was no breach of discipline on Malcolm Alker's part???????
Add this to the long standing disillusionment expressed on this board regarding the poor standard of marketing and promotion, is it any wonder loyal supporters get so exasperated.

this is a typical statement to avoid any further legal action, looks to me like the club were guilty of a breach of contract on the grounds of making an allegation of mis-conduct which was untrue.

| The reality is that none of us know exactly what transpired and we never will, so it's not a yardstick that I'd use to measure the club's managerial skills to be honest.
It certainly looks as though he has been paid his contract money by the club both throughout his suspension and up to its expiry date, he may even have received an ex-gratia payment, who knows. Personally, I wish him well for the future just because he was such a great servant to the club but its clear that despite the outcome of this, there was no way back on to the current coaching staff.
On a wider note, I've decided to be agnostic about how the club is managed as I'm not in a position to be able to offer a viable alternative to what's already there (if I win the Euromillions, maybe I'll change my mind). I do this because it's clear to me that despite years of criticism on this forum (about the way the club is managed, countless good ideas generated by fans and offers of free help channeled via Forever Reds from professionals who just happen to support the club which have been either ignored or turned down), nothing really changes so it's pointless getting upset anymore.

| It's strange that this stuff should raise it's head now. Me and my other half were chatting the other night and I said that I was concerned that the mess that was our "coaching/management" for a lengthy part of last season that saw Malc and his absence from The Willows, under Lord knows what circumstances, would come to haunt us prior to our move to our new stadium.
I have to say that I think that Matt Parish will just treat this bull with the contempt it deserves and won't be "fazed" at all.
In some ways it's perhaps a real shame, because under most any other circumstances I reckon that Matt would have rated Malc very highly for being not only a very loyal and hard working player, but for being a good individual too, as this seems to be one of our new coaches pre-requisites.
I really believe in MP, and he impresses me not only as a coach but also as a person. I've seen some absolute bullters and con men in our "professional game" and I really think that some fans have a totally unrealistic preconceptions about "pro" sport. Truth be known there are as many poor people working in "pro" sport and are total amateurs, as there are in any workplace that you care to name.
All the best,
BD and Mrs. BD.

Could it simply be the case that Alker was given a 1 year contract (I don't know if that's the case) and we're now at the end of it?

| The situation as I read it. Firstly Alker was not sent home for nothing.
It appears Malc got free legal support from the players union and the club decided not to contest his case (Probably due to lack of concrete evidence or individuals not prepared to stand up in court against a former mate/player) Had the club lost the case it would have cost the club a lot more money. (Is this bad management or just reducing a financial risk?) I think the club have looked at it and thought Alker was only on a 12 month deal so let's just pay him up and have rid.

| I'm so happy for Malc I hope he can get back into the sport he loves and goes on to be a success and rams the decision back down Steve Simms throat. A disgraceful episode and disgraceful end to a loyal career as a one club servant. I hope next time the supporters see Alker he gets that final applause he was deprived of at the last ever game at the willows.

My thoughts on this issue based on what I've read about this topic over recent months. Some people may not agree with how I view it but that shouldn't prevent me from sharing with others what I consider to be a probable scenario.

Malcolm as been a great servant to this club just ashame the way it as ended. Aleast both party's can move on. Good luck to Malcolm alker
