Salford City Reds are excited to announce the signing of Penrith Panthers centre Michael Jennings. Michael has joined the Reds on a three year deal. Salford's director of rugby, Steve Simms had this to say "Michael hasn't been having a great season in Australia and wanted a fresh start". Michael believes joining the Reds can give him time away from Australia and further develop his career where he can focus on playing rugby. The Reds are also expected to announce two more high profile signings at the end of the Super League season.

Now that will do very nicely, brilliant young player looking for a new challange.
Makes a mockery of the proclamation by a poster "in the know" the other week that we have to slash the wage bill and will not be making any decnet signings.

Let's hope the other big name signings are of the same quality and age.

Was on the verge of being dismissed very recently due to another episode of bad behaviour. No wonder he wanted a fresh start away from Aus. Talented player but a real loose cannon. Time will tell if this is a good investment or not.

Just done a bit of youtubing and Christ is he fast, with him, Jodie and Williams think we might have the 3 fastest backs in SL. The 108meter solo effort is scortching.

Speed and pace to burn. Looks like MP's role in the NSW set-up has paid off with this one. I can see us racking-up a few tries on his side of the field next year. Check-out his 108 metre try on you tube. Yes, that is not a typing error, just check it out.

I know it means nothing, but his wiki entry already has him down as a Salford player. Would like to see it confirmed though.

Michael Jennings is a shoe in for origin. This would be the biggest signing we've made in over a generation if true. I'd be very surprised, considering our budget, if it is.

Having looked at his Twitter account, he doesn't strike me as a bloke imminently due to leave Penrith for anywhere, let alone here.

Cant see Penrith releasing him though as he is a big player for them.

Can't believe any of you actually think this is true. Jenning's is one of the best centres in the world. Regular SOO plyer and pushing for Australia selection. If he wanted to leave Penrith, every NRL club would want to sign him. If he wanted to get away from Australia, then Catalans, Warrington, Wigan would be well ahead of Salford (no disrespect intended). But even if it was on the Warrington forum, it would be laughable as he won't come over here.

It does seem to good to be true, however, it gets my goat a little bit when fans of other Clubs presume that the likes of us couldn't sign quality players. We've done it in the past and nothing is impossible.

Jennings would be a fantastic signing. Quality centre with skill and pace. Emphasis on the 'would' be a fantastic signing though fellas.

I wreckon it is true, parish knows jennings personally and I wreckon he's give him an escape route from his problems in australia. And to answer the bradford fan teams like wigan catalans and wire already have rock solid centres, there not going to get rid of players like carmont or king for the sake of it? And plus ever heard of the salary cap! Parish was let out the bag on wikipedia and I think this one is true also.

Not disrespecting Salford. I just find it hard to believe that a player of Jennings quality would come to SL. If you do i will admit i am wrong and it would be the best signing SL has seen in years.

He's a current origin NSW pick
He has an extended deal with Penrith until the end of the 2015 season.

Whilst I'm now quite sceptical about this info, you should remember that under the tenure of JAW we have signed 4 top class Aussies out of the blue ...... Jack, Cartwright, Hancock and of course Baker. So, with the new stadium almost upon us, maybe (just maybe) this another shocker for SRLFC (probably a wind up though as some have said)

If it is true the club will be loving this us all refusing to believe it that it would happen
