He says that the Salford job and the Wigan job are different, yes because as he says they have more resources, so wouldn't that make it a better job for an English coach? Oh so we should give an English coach a chance, it's ok for Wigan not to but not us. I just wish the man would crawl back under which ever shaded rock he's been living under.

Well where do we begin? Let us start with the obvious, there's a reason he has a column in the Star and not a more reputable paper.

There's so much in the article that could be rebuked:

1) We gave Karl Harrison his chance, but after some success the style of rugby he had us playing got found out. After our one impressive season clubs began to take us seriously and how to nullify our game, at which point he failed to provide anything new. Would still take Harrison, as our coach, over McRae anyday of the week!!!!

2) Rumours would suggest, Putril doesn't want to leave St Helens!!! Personally, I'd like to see him take the reigns as our next head coach, after Parish. That's if someone else hasn't snapped him up first. At the moment I can't see the Salford job being a tempting enough offer for him.

3) I actually agree, that British clubs should be playing with more flare. However, we've fallen behind in terms of coniditioning and player development, and the Australian coaches bring much more up to date methods. How much flare do Brian noble's teams play with. His philosophy always seemed to be, run big forwards up the middle and then rely on a few gifted players!!!

4) Have the Powell's, Paul Anderson or Putril ever worked at representative level? Parish must have some level of quality to be picked as assistant coach to NSW/Ricky Stuart.

5) Did any of these British coaches actually want the Salford job?
