| Yes he was bad,BUT the result cannot be blamed entirely on Bentham, why didnt we play the game just like Cas did ?and get in there faces quicker and close them down just like they did to us,although fair enough they were offside on many occasions !!
In all it was a close scrappy game but to be fair i did think they slightly edged it as the better side making less mistakes, and although our kicking game wasnt bad,i thought theres was a lot better !In all nothing to get to downbeat about,we will never win 3 games on the trot though i feel lol the big one is next week in finally getting one over on our bogey side!! fingers x !

Finally... Somebody who also saw it the same way as I did. Although there were a number of occasions when Cas were offside... and the fact that he seemed to be giving then slightly less that the full 10 at times... you can't take away Castleford's speed from the line at the play the ball. We were far too slow playing the ball and frequently had them in our faces before we had room to move. That has to be given some credit.

| [iIt's no good having a dig at Refs
But in saying that I heard our coach on the radio on my way home and you could tell he was a little p@ssed off with Mr Bentham, but of course Phil's hands are tied and he has got to be very careful at what he says about officials.
In the end we lost so we move on to Wrexham next Friday and try yet again to be them sods....

| I'm not one to blame the ref and I'm not going to blame him for our loss, but he was a disgrace an absolute disgrace. What a bald prick!!!

| Yes, it's bad enough when the opposition are clearly offside on several occasions and not pulled up. But when Salford are then penalised for offside when near their own line, I can understand why people get so angry and frustrated. However, the Referee did not cost us the match. We were beaten by a slightly better side who were able to apply that little bit more pressure, which in the end was enough to win them the game.

| We weren't clinical enough in that first half. We were more or less camped in their half the first 10 minutes and couldn't score through a combination of good defence and poor decision making and errors.
I was impressed with Cas. With the exception of Rangi Chase they have no real, superstars. They are a superbly coached side with plenty of young players in there. It's something we should be looking at aspiring towards if at all possible.

| Having seen last nights game and the reds win at Warrington , there's one obvious conclusion - the referees have been told to ease up on the penalties,
Before the end of may we were seeing Penalty counts on average well over 20 per game, last night at the WIllows it was 20 minutes before one was given, Cas were error free for about half an hour as Salford didnt get a pen until Brett Ferres stopped them taking a quick 20 re-start.
There was a lot of slowing down at the PTB last night which wasnt penalised -both sides , and a couple of early pens would have stopped that and it could have made for a faster and more exciting game
The message has clearly gone out - just look at the penalty counts in last weeks matches- way down, but we cant complain about whistle happy refs and then also start beefing about them not dishing them out - vicious circle im afraid

That penalty really got to me, because watching from up on high in the Club this is won't I saw, we were directly behind the tackle on Widders, he than gets up and moves to his right, clearly moving of the mark, (pen to Salford?)leaving the Salford markers in no mans land, the half back gets the ball and is tackled by the markers, Bent Ham than gives the penalty for not standing straight, but then runs back the 10 metres to the defence line giving Cas another 10 yards from where the offence took place.
Quarter of an hour later on the same spot again the roles are reversed but the Cas marker jumps round as the ball is played and gathers from not straight but Bent Ham says play on.
I am not surprised he didn't give offside at the PTB because i am quite sure he couldn't see clearly due to the Mummys Return extra Fozzard standing in front of him each time.
One day we will get the monkey off our backs and get 3 wins on the trot, but ust once can we have a fair crack of the whistle, and put some of the pressure we applied on their line and covert it to points.

| Mr Pev, agree with all that you say. When a player is penalised for 'not square', he is therefore offside, and the penalty is given on the mark where the referee is stood. At least that is what I give when I referee in the North West Counties League

| Everyone all ways blames the ref. We created enough chances to win the game and did not take them. Do you blame the ref for missed chances where will it end. Reffing is not an easy job you have to see everything and this aint possible.

| I don't blame the ref at all.
I do think he was awful though, and that we probably got a slightly worse deal from him than Cas did.
No influence over the result though IMHO, just over the quality of entertainment.
One man made the difference to the result but he wasn't an official.

In the pre-season friendlies they were over zealous. Now they seem to be easing off. Here's an idea: why not let referees officiate the game as they see it, every week.
Turning referees into robots clearly hasn't worked.
