| Dave Tarry said "The club feel it is time for a change and we need to move on, and there is no doubt now that as we head into the new stadium, the head coach's job at Salford is one of the most attractive available in the game at this time. We anticipate a high calibre appointment that will push the club quickly onto the next level."
I wonder if that means they've already got someone and so have paid Shaun Mc off??

| If my knees could take it, I'd be doing cartwheels right now.
Who's it going to be then?
Adrian Lam, please, please, please, please, please, sign on the dotted line?
I would imagine it's going to be Kurt Wrigley, though.
What about Paul Cullen as an outside bet? He seems to know the game inside out and might be ready for a return to Super League, think I'd prefer him to Milward. The team's got three main problems at the moment: fitness, defence and motivation. Whoever we get, they need to address all three of these issues. I reckon Cullen could get the first two sorted, but I'm not completely sure about the third. He always seems a likeable guy, so who knows, maybe, the players would play for him.
Adrian Lam on the other hand, big name, successful playing career, was a very good player and has learnt from the best. Just don't see us getting him, but who knows, we could dream.

| Simms reason for not appointing a new coach this year was that McRae may return. Surely we can now look at bringing someone in this year, credible candidate permitting. Cullen and Millward please no, Kear or Noble would be more like it.

| OK that's done, and now, lets move on, get a new coach in straight away and let him bring in his own backroom team, start afresh (except Hunty).

| Do you not think, if we did get Noble Vievers would be staying? Probably the reason why he got the assistant coaches job in the first place!?

| AT LAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
now Simms must follow, and Alker.
but not a ex-warrington reject
a top coach with freedom to sign who he wants
if he's english, or from down under, must come with a record, but not someone's sacked coach.
lets turn this round now!!!!!!!!!!!!!

| I do wish SM good health and that he is happy in what he does next.
Think that he has never done anything but his best for the club, but unfortunately his best for us was simply second best.
Hope that we do have a replacement lined up and that the person is primed to take over this year, for me it will be Noble but I doubt it will be anything other than till the end of the season as I from speaking to someone in the know within RL get the feeling Noble is off down under come the end of the SL season.
So noble for theremainder of the year and Lam for the start at the new stadium would be my dream ticket.

| Well done to Salford and their management. An employment situation handled without people from the club adding to careless speculation via the media. The last thing I would have wanted to see was the club being sued for wrongful dismissal where settlements can be higher than for unfair dismissal.
The employees absence due to illness put the club in a difficult situation which is why we have probably seen such a lengthy scenario played out.
Hopefully Mr McRae is satisfied with his severance and the club can now get on with looking for the replacement sooner.

Whoever he is will not be to everybody's taste, but surely we can back off the insults for a while.

| According to BBC story - Phil Veivers "...taking caretaker charge...." - doesn't say until end of season, so perhaps we can hope for an announcement soon

It may be one option but not without risk.
Noble's unattched and could come in on an short term contract til the end of the season. he already worked with Vievers etc and could ' steady the ship'. but quick fix option although they may fix our leaky defence, wouldn't help with keeping key players and bringing in new talent for the new stadium.
If a overseas Coach is interested it would mean quitting part season . comming across without having had a proven track record in SL or adapting to living in the UK, no knowledge of the UK based English or overseas based Players over here.
So to me that mean's South's Kurt Wrigley is a huge risk.
Noble is a safer Bet but not my ideal choice.
Adrian Lam would be an intriguing possibility but doubtful , due to take over at the St George Dragons in 2012 and has been quoted that Wigan would be the only SL club that could change his mind.
So it's Vievers until the end of the Season with an overseas coach appointed but directing 2012 contracts and recruitment?
Or it's Noble then and on a longer term contract is my bet ( if not my dream choice )as to me he's the only candidate who meets the two issues:-
Someone free now to address the on field issues , with a record of Bradford - Wigan & GB + getting a half decent season out of Crusaders. and given a remit to tie key players and sign for 2012.
It's Wilkinsons way, rather than act decisively pre-season we're changing Coaches half way through a do or die season. Our last 5 Head coaches have come in mid season . ...................Oh the joy of being a Salford Fan

| I await the abuse but here goes.
Why the best wishes etc to McRae.
He has left with a nice severance package and it was obvious he would not go without this so he has got exactly what he wanted.
4 years of excuses, dire rugby and the club in freefall.
Yes thank you Mr McRae.
