| Now I like everyone am disappointed with the results over Easter over 110 points conceded we all know that is not good enough but they were the two teams at the top of the league at the min and we can easily say we are not at that level yet.
Realistically we are looking for a vast improvement on our performance over the course of the season than over the previous two and I think the next five games are crutial as to how how season will finish :
Harlequins - away
Hunslet - cup
Hull - home
Bradford - away
Wakefield - home
All winnable games and would put us on a 5 game unbeaten streak and confidence will be massive in the squad.
That would put us on 16 points in the league which may not be enough for a push on the top 8 for the end of the season but would be a step in the right direction
Let's put the last two games behind us and move onwards and upwards and get behind the boys !!

I know what you mean here R.I.T.S. and I agree with your positive thinking. The only thing that I would question here is: to state that "all these games are winnable", is optimistic the way the results are going this season.
I suppose this is probably the kind of "tooth and nail/close to the end" league that we (not to mention Sky, BBC and sponsors) were all craving for in the days when Wigan, Widnes, Saints, Bradford and Leeds were totally dominant.
You only have to look at the results so far this season to realise that NO-ONE is guaranteed the points on any day regardless of their last result or past reputation.
It's a really good positive post mate: at probably the right time.
My personal view, is that at the moment our club needs to to get the off-the-field nonsense sorted (and very publicly) and allow our Club, team and spectators to be in the news for all the right reasons.
Great post mate.

| The problem with that theory is if we don't win those 5 then the season will be gone, so will so many more fans and I fear so will our better players.

| It's a fair point.
There's no way you can judge any team at this point in the season with this years SL. At this rate, we could ship another couple of 50 point defeats and still end up in the play-offs. Optimistic? sure. But regular drubbings are happening to everyone this season so anything's possible.
I've got a feeling we will do ok over the next few games, and morale should be on the rise, both on the field and off it.

| If we don't win the majority of those 5 then I will be like the most on here in slagging us off and think we are really gonna struggle keeping hold of our decent players but I think we have a decent chance of building, points, confidence and fans it was only a few games ago we were winning 2 on the row and playing well. After those 5 games we have Warrington away and will prob have another 50 put past us.
I can't see any of the off the field stuff being sorted before the end of the season now. Think Vievers will be in charge for the rest of the season and we will try and brush the Alker thing under the carpet hopefully the disruption will be minimal for the rest of the season.
I just think sometimes we are to quick to slag the players off but we were playing the top 2 teams in the league at the min where as the next few games are against teams around us in the league

| I am looking to July because if we don't get to 16 points or are below Wakefield and Crusaders then I feel that our season will end then with a no franchise verdict, I have seen nothing that demonstrates that we deserve to be in super league, we are at best an amateur club, with very poor administrators who don't appear to have any idea how to run a sports club, we are dealing with Stef in public just like we did with Myler, if we can't offer him anything just let him go, the club appears to have no forward thinking plans, we make too many stupid predictions, even the new stadium was all a wing and a pray, there is no real money within the club and the people at the club have no idea how to generate money. So much more could be done there that could get more people in and involved with doing things, but when it is open that is it, the fans are now forgotten by the club. Marketing is a total joke, there are people on Tootal drive don't know a match is on, even the pubs they are using for the fan venture none in the old city of Salford Chapel street and the like or Deansgate area of Manchester, in fact other areas of Manchester, some pubs have lots of stuff on Sale Sharks we have no presence.

| I think it's incredible the way the supporters of our club appear to have just looked at our recent results and "almost forgotten" the internal strife. I have (in the past) been privy to a lot of internal stuff: and was asked from one of our overseas players at the time to go into a meeting with The Board and discuss his contract as he didn't feel comfortable the way things had gone, and that he "trusted me". I have to say that this was not a total surprise as I had, during the week he had been announced as a "major signing" for the club, loaned this player some money as the cheque he presented to a certain part of our club was DECLINED.
That is a very embarrassing thing to happen ( for everyone): and one that perhaps we would rather not hear of.
The players NEED a resolution to this nonsense and quickly.
Our club has now been the "whipping boy" of the press and SL for long enough. We either need a new coach, or an announcement of a promotion from within the ranks.

| Crusaders games aside, we are playing to exactly where our abilities allow at the minute. Sure the capitulations at Cas, Leeds and Hudds and at home against Wire were poor, but we can't really be expected to beat those sides anyway. So points on the board wise, I believe we're 4 down on where we should be. A good run in those next 5 games can correct this.
I'm confident we'll beat Quins on Saturday which will leave us on the edge on the playoffs again. Setting myself up for an embarrassment here but you can quote me on this.

Why not? we are a professional team like the others. Long gone should be the days when you target matches, i for one go to every game to expect my side to either win or at least compete, if they dont have that attitude then why should i waste my time going to matches.

Because we just aren't as good as those sides?
For so many reasons, as a club we've stood still for a long while, that is where my frustrations lie. The current crop of players (on paper) are an improvement on the last few years, however we're still a long way from catching up on the lost ground from relegation, a poor managerial appointment and years and years of trying to get a go ahead on the new stadium.
I, like you attend both home and away, but I certainly don't go to places like Huddersfield/Wire/Leeds etc etc EXPECTING a win, because we plainly aren't as good as those sides. What I do hope for is a committed and passionate performance. Sometimes we don't get this, which is the most upsetting aspect of being a fan but I firmly believe that results-wise (apart from the Crusaders games) we've met our expectations. The 5 games listed however are a chance to build confidence and get ourselves up the table/into the next round of the cup. If we fail in those games then I would more than understand why some fans are disheartened.

I'm with you all the way again here mate: but I think that the Club NEEDS to at least make some sort of a decision in regards to the farcical coaching position. I'm sure someone will come on again here and state that because of the "Malc Alker situation " (sounds a bit like a spy movie....The Ipcress file) that the Club cannot make any statement. Well personally as far as I'm concerned, they should have thought of that whilst he was still there!! It's the reputation of the club, and the patience (and pockets) of the fans that is suffering at the moment.
I just hope that the "Steve Simms pay structure" that he had in place at Halifax has not reared it's ugly head at The Reds.
At the moment, every time we play live on Sky or are subject to focus from the press, there is always a pre-comment as to our "behind the scenes/off the field problems".
It's all about cedibility......................and at the moment we seriously lack it. ( and I don't mean the players).

if we do not see action NOW, then players will leave.
Alker's position no longer matters to our long-term survival. I support him totally as he supportrd the club totally. At the same time, I feel we are losing the players ... what business can afford to lose the people who attract its business?
Some of our and management comments remind me of textile management in 1919. Spot the mill today.

Good call HR
I'm sure that textile management (and what happened as a result of it) may be a wee bit beyond our younger brethren. But I know what you mean. The analogy of "spot the mill" isn't lost on me either.
This could be the biggest season in the history of Salford RLFC. Let's just hope that it's not for all the wrong reasons.
Surely it isn't too much to ask of "the management" to get their @rses in gear, let the coaches (whoever they may be) coach, the players play and the supporters do what they do best: cheer and sing, get pi$$ed, and complain.
All the best.

| Sadly you and I, and others who post, have put in (I hesitate to state "invest", as I am not a share holder) so much to Salford as well as Rugby League.
I am panicking. Seriously panicking. A few good results against London and Hunslet mean nowt ... we have the makings of a good squad, the openings the move to Barton give, and the chance of a franchise.
Against this, our team looks lost, our club looks lost and our future looks lost.
The only way out of a crisis is change.
It will hurt but the status quo cannot continue.
Only Stockport fans are hurting more.

| Thats 20% of the task set complete, next week we hopefully can build on this, although one poor point was the 5 kicks missed that would have given us a record score away for us in Super League.
