| Think Red Nose Day has come early down at the Willows.... I hear on good authority that Father Ted AKA Mr Simms has decided to take over all things to do with the Reds First team training. He has apparantly decided that he is in a better position and knows better then Veivers, Alker and the rest of the backroom staff as to the best way to coach the Reds having been sat in the boardroom for a good number of years. Comic Relief on Friday... I really hope not at the Willows...

Good!!! I'd much rather the team have one voice to listen to and are pulling in the same direction rather than 3 or 4. Coaches are there to coach, if Simms is dictating the game plan and what he wants the team to do and the coaches are pulling together to fine tune these instructions then it's the best thing for us.
Too many people are quick to knock whats going on before really thinking about it.

| So someone has decoded that enough's enough and has taken the overall control and decision making? How is that a bad thing? McRae is a spinless useless coach according to most on here. Someone does the opposite to McRae and gets your response!
Isn't vievers in Aus still? And what experience as Alker got? Coaching Wigan St Pats is hardly the same as Coaching the reds.
Well Done simms

I think he is back now. I'm sure I saw him on the pitch at Leeds.

| That's great news. I too am glad they have one voice to follow, and just watching his after match talk on Friday reassured me how spineless and uninterested SM is. No disrespect. Just the truth. Simms was hohnest. Upfront and most of all had the tone of someone who actually cared.
Onwards an upwards as long as negative uninterested SM is away.

| Im happy steve as took over as head coach, personally i think Mal needs to go to another club to work under a top coach and just see how things work at other clubs he as bin at salford all his career and for me he should have left when he retired got an assistants job perhaps even gone out to australia work over there, then come back as a meesiah! As for vievers dont know much about his coaching credentials but think he worked under micheal maguire and therefore he should have been standing listening and learning from him so time will tell what he can bring to us.

| We need a complete clearout of coaching and playing staff, as they all have that losing mentality which is very difficult to change. our biggest mistake was giving any coacha 4and a half year contract. In football he would have gone after six months, as he would have in most sports that are based on performance. All the basics are wrong, we dont look fit, we dont look organised, and why have we a pack of forwards( Cashmere aside) that are just so small, that we cant make any hard yards cant wait to see Willy Mason against Luke Adamson!!! We need a young coach who has done a good apprenticeship-- like Maguire at Wigan who wants to make a name for himself. We need a big pack of forwards who are fit and mobile and aggressive-- at moment Bradfords backs are bigger than our forwards.

Similar to a Mr Kenny Dalglish who took up the reigns at another Reds following a spell upstairs?

We have had that trouble for years i think regarding size of our players/forwards! I dont know whether its our club not investing in nutrition etc or the fact we haven't had a decent strength and conditioner? Every other clubs forwards look massive compared to ours!

I don't think size is our main concern. I thinks it's 4th on our list after:
Discipline
Organisation
Communication
Team work.
Re Luke Adamson , I don't follow your comment. You don't think he'll handle him? If so I don't think you'll see anyone more willing, committed or capable of stopping him. Im thinking we might see him put a big hit on the bloke. Lukes always been the first to target the Feka's/Fieldens/Morleys any Salford fan can see that.
Should be a physical game. Just hope we can keep up.

Funny you should say that cos I was thinking more about the clash of the Titans ; Adam Sidlow v Willie Mason, I would say he's more the same height, weight and build, lets see how the big man goes................. Lets just see who does get to grips with big willy............

Touché. I know who my money's on.... Saying that I bet Sidlow can't wait to get his hands around a certain big willy
On a more serious note he needs wrapping up high and low that turn and offload he employs is lethal (Christ I hope that's been pointed out) and I can see it gaining them silly yards we end up paying for as per.

| Umm, back to the topic of Simms...
In his interview on the website he did seem to know what he was talking about and was a lot more straight forward and honest that McRae. He admitted that players need to sort their discipline out and that we need to get in their faces in defence and bang them to the ground. It sounds a bit more like the attitude the team had when Karl Harrison was coach. Whether Simms is a coach or not, at least his comments aren't just 'I don't know what went wrong'.

Well he was a fullback wasn't he? So I'm sure he would appreciate both aspects of the game.

I take my hat off to Simms for showing some b*lls. He's put his hand up during a difficult period to take the responibility rather than choosing to run away (Unlike somebody else on full pay) or hide behind other people.

There are no losers within Salford whilst the players/coaches are counting their stack of green for under performance and bad results. (And in some cases not even coaching or playing for a living) The only losers at Salford are the directors, sponsors and supporters who contribute to their wages.
