For years supporters of other clubs have commented about not travelling to Salford because they are worried about leaving their cars parked near the ground. Last night I went on the new police crime map website and I couldn't find one single reported incident of vehicle crime anywhere near the ground.

I wanted to mention it because if this is the reason for some (and not just an excuse) it must cost the club a lot of money in lost gate revenue.

Interesting that a Wigan fan recently said that they park at the old Boddingtons site for the Willows and get the tram in - it turns out that Great Ducie Street has the highest car crime rate in Greater Manchester, and as you can't park on it, it must be from the car parks just off it.

Apparently you only have to worry about leaving your car parked in Weaste if your name is Hazel.

Slightly deviating but I've just checked the crime figures for my street and I'm happy to say there was a grand total of 0 crimes reported. Nice one!

If people dont report it to the police then it won't appear on the site but doesnt mean the crime didnt happen. Personally I've never had my car damaged parking near the Willows after moving from Salford 18 years ago.

True but if there is an insurance claim involved then it must be reported to get a crime number.

However, there were 2450 incidents of robbery on the day of the Wigan game.

I've said it for years that there isn't and there never has been any problem parking a car on Weaste Lane or anywhere else around the ground on match days! I'm not saying vehicle crime doesn't happen on Weaste Lane as I have witnessed it (was an extremely rare occassion) whereby a few drunken idiots have left a local establishment and walked down the Lane smashing wing mirrors off on there way home to a much more crime ridden area of Salford.

As you say its a MYTH and those who use it as an excuse to A. Not come on match days and B. Is the reason why Salford must move grounds are basically taliking out of their ar$e!

Maybe the club should put out an article on this in the RL press to quash the bull sprouted by other supporters!

If you have abit of time to spare try putting in all the towns/cities with super league teams and note the number of crimes for each.

I'd hazard a guess Leeds and Warrington's figures would be higher, since Leeds is in a vibrant student area and Warrington is bang in the middle of town. Therefore the results would be skewed.

Don't know if it's still the case but, when my brother lived there about 10 years ago, Headingley (the area, not just the sorts stadium) had the highest rate of reported crimes per square mile anywhere in England, outside of London.

It also had the highest incidence of reported male rape per square mile of anywhere in Europe.

Yes. Which goes some way to explaining why the Church Hall off Eccles Old Road and Hope Hospital garnered the most incidents, by far, in the local vicinity.

Can anybody quess where the worst street for anti-social behaviour is in greater manchester for December, I think the answer proves that the information is totally useless.

I said this when the thread about having to move from the Willows and even your own were saying that the move was needed because of the trouble that away supporters have had. I have been going to the Willows now for 20years on and off as an away supporter and have never had any trouble.

Complete myth? try telling that to the Swinton fan who had his car broken into on friday night ,parked on Weaste Lane!

Oh and the answer to the Anti-social behaviour question is Chicago Avenue at Manchester Airport with 54 incidents, the next was 18, Chicago avenue connects two roundabouts at the airport and nobody lives there.

It stands to reason that if there is a match at The Willows, or any stadium for that matter, the potential for car thefts/break-ins near the ground will be greater. It's opportunism. The argument is that Weaste isn't a robbery hot spot per se.
