| Would you renew his contract come the end of this season. For me it's a No. Hope you prove me wrong Shaun because you have a squad that could easily get in the top 8. With the right guidance of course.

| The view of nearly everyone on this forum by the sounds. I feel sorry for the bloke if he ever gets on here. However I think he'd be in denial if he ever was to read some of the comments. Nice person I'm sure. But we need a decent coach.
I can only presume the reason the club hasn't ended his contract is because they can't afford to or becuse they want to instill stability.
Christ Malc and Steve tried to oust him last year... Which says allot.

| Most of the games last year were lost in the 1st 20 minutes of the game. Realistically we are looking at two wins from the first 5 games. Anything more than that is a bonus depends what st's team turn up at the willows.

| Mcrae does not no what to make of yesterday,If he is not sacked before the start of the season
then the board don.t no either,Its a shame we have got better players, but the wrong man coaching them.that is
my opinion, It will be a tragedy,If we don.t make the top eight, with Mr Mcrae at the helm I don.t think we will
Its all right spending more money on players, and that as to be welcomed, but If you don.t have the right coach
that money is wasted,If we want to be a top club, these unpalatable decisions have to be made, Wigan changed
coach and won the Grand Final.I don.t think he will be sacked, so I hope I am proved wrong.

| i would not re new his car tax never mind his contract the worse coach in SL by a long way. As stated before nothing but a commentator as wilky is a so called business man why o why does he give this guy a 4 and a half year deal? i can not remember another coach getting a deal that long. SM must have thought it was his lucky day!! i can just image him talking complete Bulls!@* to Wilky in the willows board room, like he does on sky. I'm pig sick of this club hiring inept coaches in the past 15 years Harrison is the only decent one we've had. Why do we keep hiring total muppets?
Shall we have a sweep stake for when he pops up on sky next???????? Il say he will make an appearance on sky in one of the games in Cardiff!!!! What odds will anybody give me?
(As you can tell im pig sick about the game yesterday and as stated earlier iv just bought 4 season tickets so feeling angered)

You didn't buy a Season Ticket purely on the basis that we're gonna play showboat rugby or that you think we're gonna win something surely!?! That makes you a glory hunter and you're at the wrong club for that pal!
Sure I'd love us to win something, the thought of maybe one day getting to Wembley stirs up emotions, getting in the play offs would be great, but I got my season ticket because I love the club, my club, my city, cause I was born on the right side of the Irwell, cause I'm a proud Salfordian....

| Looking at this with a fairly cool head, McRae has let the club down, badly, but how many people sit in jobs they don't like and have no enthusiasm for? So I can't blame him for sitting firm and not doing what many consider to be the 'honourable' thing. The board need to act fast. Bringing in a new coach is hardly ideal, but it could pay dividends come the end of the season. McRae's problem is, he now has a team packed with talent and experience, what he wanted. If McRae doesn't get a grip and get more out of the front row, we're not going to perform any better than last season. Which would be a massive shame, as we have plenty of talent in the backs. It's not just the front row, how many of our young players have stepped up to next level?
The Bailey signing really concerns me, also! It would appear we let Swain leave, and brought in a player that seemingly has injury issues. Swain never set the world alight, but in terms of ability I believe we've replaced like for like. Only, Bailey hasn't featured yet and isn't proving anywhere like as durable. I wouldn't have minded Swain leaving, but I don't feel Bailey is trading up. I'd have been happier if we'd pursued Cross before Leeds got their hands on him.

Well about 300 days left if he sees out his contract ..
It seems we've always had issues with McRae's appointment, yet without any first hand accounts I still cannot lay all the blame at his feet.
is he is just ' treading water ' and seeing his contract out ? if so it is wholly the responsibilty of the people who employ him for letting him do so and still remain employed.
and doesn't exonerate the people who 'work for him ' . it's just too easy to lay the blame at his feet , We have experienced and young talented professional people employed to doing nothing else but play the game once week and keep themselves mentally & physically fit inbetween is their responsibility.
I've watched 3 out the 4 pre-season games , and without stating the obvious there's room for improvement.
We still have players to come into the side . the team still has to work at it's defence , approach play and moves . but we do have better overall players this season than before even if they still don't know how to play together yet.
We will start the season 4 points better off than Crusaders & probably 6 points better off than Wakefield.
We got a decent home kit ..
We've got a new home to go to ..
remember the Millward chant, no one like us , we don't care , we are 'Salford'
we need to stand together

And therein lies the problem, Hull KR also have players to come in and before Sunday (and still) had played one less friendly less than us and still managed to defend properly and attacked excellently winning the game by 34 points, have the hit their straps before us in less games? They are a team we'll need to compete with this season for any chance of getting [i"in the eight"[/i from what I've seen over the four friendlies we look no different in either defence or attack as last season, the attack more so as on Sunday we used the same "moves" as last season (and they didn't work then most of the time) HKR had us worked on from the kick off oh and never mind having Patten at fullback we could still have Gary Tyrer (remember him? ) it won't make any difference if we're going to have him on the end of the same moves as Fitzy for the last few years, we'll get him murdered!
Sorry MM I'm not ranting at you, or anyone really for that matter, I'm just concerned we haven't moved on even with this undoubtedly talented squad we've assembled. I desperately want us to do well this season of all seasons and still think we'll win in Cardiff and haven't lost all my faith just yet (why would I, I've lasted over 30 years on scraps so far ) but we've used up our pre-season games with little effect so the next two weeks could be massive, Shaun it's over to you!
Thanks for listening, it's like therapy!

Whilst I've only seen one of the four (Swinton) I was excited to see the new look Reds (And whilst I realise not everyone played) I came away thinking I've just watched the same Salford I've been watching for years, and came away a little dissapointed.
I just pray that he has realised the concept of a game plan, one with a B if the A one doesn't work, although I somehow doubt it until we decide to throw it about against Hull or Saints.

| I don't get how you can have a game plan? You have tactics and some strategies and probably some set moves (like a kick from a scrum for example). You can't plan a game because it will never go to plan, there are 13 opposition players making sure that doesn't happen. And why is 'we stuck to our game plan' an excuse after getting beat? Sticking to a game plan that doesn't win you matches seems a bit daft.
More off the cuff rugby please, let the creative players (like Ratchford) do what they want (within reason). I'm sure we didn't have a game plan we stuck to when we beat Saints.
