A clean sweep with the awards last night for Dan Holdsworth, he scooped the supporters player, the players player & the coach's player of the year.
Bit suprised with young player of the year, Adam Neal,nice guy that he is, thought it would have gone to Jodie Broughton, only 21 & already called up to England train on squad.
Malc presented with his very deserved lifetime acheivment award of Martin Sadler, who reckoned Malc must have made 10,000 tackles in his career at Salford.
Good night all round, & the departing players all got their momento from Forever Reds, & a couple of the players remarked it was one of the nicest awards they had received, so a big thenks to everyone at F/Reds from the players.

Not surprised that Holdsworth cleaned up. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that he stays fit and plays a few more games for us next year.

What's the criteria for young player of the year though? Does the player have to be 21 or under? Jodie would have missed out on being eligible if that was the case as he turned 22 before the season started.

Just a small aside though - not sure if it's such a great thing that a player on loan from another team gets the award. Have we actually signed him up for next year or are we getting him in on loan again? Pretty sure nothing's been confirmed as of yet.

i dont think its a loan i think we have got him on a permanent deal starting next year

I think Jodie was just a tad too old to make into the young players category.

I'd have been shocked if Sir Reg hadn't cleaned up and as for Neal I keep saying it but you give him 2 years and more people will be talking about him than any young player at the willows for many a year, I think the lad has class and will be one of the best 2rowers in the game.

Forgot to put in my post this morning re the awards last night, as they promised last year, Leon Walkers parents attended the event to present the "Leon Walker Memorial Trophy" to the winner of the Young Club Person Of the year. It is a trophy that F/Reds donated in Leons memory.
It is very fitting that they attend to present the cup, it keeps Leon's memory in everyone's thoughts so we dont forget him.

That's a really nice touch from Forever Reds.

Talking of Dan Holdsworth, has anyone heard how his op went & how his recuperation is going?

Well he dropped the Player of the Season Trophy , so I wouldn't be expecting to see him ball in hand for a while . I'll presume he'll be back home for some sun & rehabilitation.

It was a great gesture with the momentos and I thought it was nice the outgoing players had a chance to say something , cant quite believe there'll be no Stu Littler here next season.

re Adam Neal / Jodie Broughton I get your point , but both are products of other teams academies ( Wolves / Leeds ). Jodie had had experience of Superleague with Leeds & Hull prior to him arriving at Salford. Adam Neal went from reserve grade at Warrington into our Front Row due to the injury crisis. and he never looked out of place , he's a real prospect and an Irlam lad to boot so I wasn't too disappointed, we must have retained his services for next season at least hopefully more.

Spoke to Dan & his partner after awards they were flying home Friday morning to finish his re hab & winter training. He said everything gone to plan re his op & cant wait to come back for next season, both of them really settled & happy here, love that Europe is so near to travel to, visited a few places & his other half loves the shopping here


Dan in regular contact with Luke Patten & remarked he is really exited about coming over here to play, half the battle if there is someone you know already here.

Thanks BBM - after all the apparent hoo-hah when he first came it's really good to know that things are OK for him - he's not the only one looking forward to next season - I can't wait!
