| Shaun McRae, no excuse next season, enough good signing for next season, talking a good game will not work next year.
I was at Crusaders, HKR & again at Huddersfield today, I did not go expecting to win but I did expect some structure, some organisation & someone Kind of knowing what to do? No runners, very flat, one man rugby with ball in hand, we had one of the best wing players in the Super League got the ball once in a wide position & this was after about 79 minutes.
I am not having a pop at the youngsters but having a go at the poor coaching of the team, this is not a one off, equally as bad at Crusaders.
No more excuses, Seems like to me some of the players on the way out don't give a f... playing for McRae, woeful!

| Listened to McRae on the Radio after the game, he appeared quite jolly and as if he couldn't give a f**k about what is going on, he said he has a contract for next season and he has never walked away from a contract.
Today was totally woeful, we were lucky that Huddersfield,to be honest were not very good, if they were it would have been over 100 points. Most players looked totally at sea and as if they could not be bothered, most seemed surprised to get a pass, the tackling was very poor, we managed to bomb two good changes unaided, whereas Huddersfield managed to bomb a lot more or else.
But the main part is that McRae is not taking responsibility for what is going on, he does not motivate the team or individual players, he doesn't shout at them when thinks go wrong and quess what I bet he doesn't get the players in for extra training when we have had a bad defeat like the last 3 games he just totters on to the TV studio and tells the sky viewers where other teams are going wrong, and in the next breath tells us he hasn't a clue why it is not going right for us, oh the IRONY. Most players under his coaching seem to go backwards, our tackling is the worst I have seen for many years and as for the kicking game that as all but disappeared, there appears to be no game plan or if there is there is no Plan B when it goes wrong, he has no respect for the players with his constant they don't understand what I want them to do, and the players have no respect for him
So what will we get for the last game at the Willows this season two thousand because people are fed up with the crap that is being served up as SuperLeague Rugby, we need to improve vastly or that will be it, I am not sure that McRae will be able to do amything with the players we are getting, I can foresee Patten playing in the scrum and Feka playing 80 mins at stand off.
I think divorce papers should be prepared.

| We have had too many hammerings this year. As for the last two performances, we have blooded young players and everyone at the club including the fans has one eye on next year.
Calling for his head now is pointless. McRae and co have made some impressive acquisations for next season and after recent results the pressure will be on him to achieve the required results. He has had realistic transfer funds allocated to sign players of quality and we expect realistic results ie challenging for the top eight and being competitive every week. Excuses cannot be made next year, we dont want the 'its a new team, we need time to develop' after conceding 50+ points.
McRae has a lot of hard work to do before the start of the 2011 campaign. Good luck to him I really hope he suceeds and we have a Salford team that can do the final campaign at the Willows proud.

| Can't win.
'Now's the time to blood the youngsters!'
'Let's see what the Acadamy lads can do'
So it's done.
'McRae needs to go! Wah!'
'Too many hammerings!'
What do you honestly expect?
The best coach in the world would struggle to coach a side bolted together with young inexperienced players, has-beens, and players away at the end of the season. Playing against teams that have everything to play for. I'm not defending McRae, but honestly he just can't win no matter what he does.

All I am asking is that he actually sounds and talks about the club with some sort of feeling not in the third person.

I know where you're coming from BP, and I know where my lad The Butcher comes from on this.
To be honest I have never met McRae so I'm a bit divorced from him in the personality stakes, BUT he really irritates me whilst on the media (particularly Sky TV).
He certainly has the ability to talk a good game and sounds fairly plausible, but I find this is very frustrating from a fans point of view when he seems to be able to offer in depth analysis on everyone else's team but his own.
I really can't "warm" to the man, but that might just be me and my ways. I think he comes over as a wee bit arrogant and condescending: again as I have said, I don't know him so it's hard to judge from afar.
I suspect that you're right though when you say that when these hand picked personnel are playing for us, there will be very few excuses and even less patience if the team's performance is poor.
The really disappointing thing for the fans though is lack of motivation from the players. I personally couldn't give a monkeys if we get beaten but I hate to see people not trying to play at their 100%, especially professional sportsmen (used loosely sometimes).
My lad would tell you that I ALWAYS have given 100% in everything I have played and have no time for those that don't do likewise. Maybe that's just me again, but I HATE IT.
In this case the fans deserve better from all the players and staff at the club.
All the best BD

| SM should of gone along time ago. With only 12 months left I think the club should offer him 6 months of his salary to walk away now with the lazy persona and mannerism he gives off I think he would take it. His pefect job is commentating all he has to do is sit there and comment on what has happened any RL person could do that, as for coaching, educating players putting in systems, motivating and improving players he is well, well short of the mark. Please somebody show me any evidence where one of our players or former players (played under SM) as said SM is a good coach or works hard or is improving us ?? NOT ONE interview iv come across as any player said that. One former player did talk about life at Salford , Robbie and he painted the picture that there is player unrest and lack of faith in SM. With the great signings we have made we need someone to steer us in the right direction, sorry SM is not that person I would not want him filling water bottles he'd be to lazy to do it.
Sorry for the negativity but with the licence up next year if we finish bottom that could go against us big style.

| Just who do you think as coach would have done a better job with the material to hand?
As for offering 6 month's salary to walk away - are you going to put your hand in your pocket & help fund that? I'll match every pound you put in.

Do you think he'll do any better next season?? I dont tbh, the excuses next year will be 'we havent gelled as a team yet', I keep trying to give Mcrae the benefit of doubt but I'm finding it hard doing that now

| 2008 season with the personel we had we should of hammered every team in that league, we won it but only just got humiliated off Celtic in semi. Well who's to blame for the players brought in any self worthy coach would of said I want this or that player. The man is an absolute con he admits that he doesn't have the answers to get the team to win, NO but goes on sky and tells them how to bleeding win. Look at john kear at wakey when he took over they was dead and buried to relegation in a far worse state than we was when eddie bomber waring took over and look what he did. When is the next forever reds meeting I'm going to outright ask players what they think of SM and let's see their response!!!!!
SM out now, if he's here next year my seaon ticket will not be renewed!!

| Sorry to lose you as he will be there.
As has been put : who do you think we can get who will accept this criticism. Nowt to play for, many kids exposed, several players know they're going (but cannot be as their no 1 ... except the horse).

| I'm not McRae's biggest fan but nor am I desperate for us to get rid of him. I think we've sone as expected this year (finished in the bottom three) and very much doubt whether any other coach could've taken us any further.
I can understand fans' frustrations at the recent drubbings we've endured but with nothing to play for, several key injuries, several players leaving and lots of youngsters playing, it's no surprise.
I think it would be daft to get rid of McRae now (or even to blame him fully for our recent poor results) but agree that next year will be a real test of his ability as a coach.
What does really concern me about McRae, as mentioned above, is the way he talks about the team/club/fans in interviews - it's almost identical to Gary Megson when he was at Wanderers and ultimately led to his downfall. I just wish McRae would show more passion, loyality and/or dedication to the Reds.

| GMR said there were about 100 Salford fans at Hudds I'm really surprised there were so many, its at the point now where you hope we can keep a score below 50 nevermind go to the match with the daft notion if the wind is blowing the right way and we play brilliantly and the opposition don't turn up maybe just maybe we might just lose.
As I said previously they wouldn't know what proffessionalism was if it hit them on the head, One game to go and at least most of the deadwood will be cast adrift, and good riddance !
One match to go with all to play for us and Les Cats battle it out for the big wooden one !! Inspirational...

We usually take a decent following to Huddersfield every year so I don't see why you could be surprised at that?

| The result was what I expected. The performance was disappointing to say the least. The only positive I can take is that only three or four of that seventeen will be in the first choice seventeen for next year.
We listened to Shaun MacRae on Radio Manchester on the way home. I admire him for not criticising his players in the media, but there my admiration stops I'm afraid. I may be wrong, but I think we lack structures and systems on the pitch. Far too often we seem short of ideas. Our kicking game has not developed at all this season. I can think of few players who have improved or developed during this season, but I can think of a few who appear to have gone backwards.
I think our coach is responsible for our performances on the pitch and they have not been satisfactory. I think the coach is the most important person at a club and I hope that next season's coach, whoever he is, can bring the best out of the squad being assembled. At the moment I am pessimistic.

[iDo you honestly think Salford City Reds will sack Shaun McRae?
In my opinion for what it's worth once the club find out if we are to be rewarded with another franchise then and only then will chages be made off the field.
I can see Mr Simms being moved upstairs and Mr McRae being made football director and then after loads of speculation and rumor the one and only Mr Ian Millward being brought to the club.
But for the time being we must all sit back and wait for July 2011 before any chages if any will take place.
On a serious note I hope my predictions don't come about but for the time being nothing changes being a Salford City Reds fan.
