| Bit of a kick in the teeth for our young lads this, McRae must not feel their ready to step up or indeed good enough.
Good luck to the lad though hope he can come and do a job for us. Anybody know anything about him?

Yeah, I kind of thought the same. It is good to see us addressing the lack of props in the squad at the moment but I was wondering whether we would see someone like Ben Wood given a chance.

| i think the point i was trying to make Bobby is that we've brought in a youngster with no/little SL experience to cover for our injuries yet we have guys in our own 20's squad who could do exactly the same thing. I would think that this lad hasnt just come to play in the 20's so it would seem he's being given a chance above our own youngsters which must surely be a bit of a let down to them?
Like i said though, maybe our coach doesnt believe that our own youngsters are ready/good enough to cover for the more experienced players which is why we've brought somebody in on loan.

| Adam is a very good young prospect who Tony Smith believes has a great future..
We have a number of Props who are just in front of him.. Mike Cooper, even using Ben Harrison in front of him.. I have watched him over the years in the Academy and he really has the makings.. of a super league prop... good leg strength and upper body strength.
I really hope you can help improve him, as no matter what people think about Shaun, he is a very good coach..
I kinda prefer this to the dual-registration as you are right, your youngsters step up and you gain SL experience.. it really is a Win Win situation..
Just hope were not as daft as staines.. and let him play against us at your place!!

| Adam is a great lad and a good young player with bags of potential, but as has been said does seam to be a kick in the teeth to some of our young lads, the u-20's haven't been fantastic up to now this year but equally they havent been poor. Quite suprised Ben Wood hasn't been given a chance rather than bringing in from elsewhere, maybe the coach just doesn't have the confidence in Wood, Spencer ect.

| What has Jack Spencer done wrong ?
Sidlow was given the same treatment last year and the same thing seems to be happening to our other promising youngsters.
Maybe this is the way McRae works ?
It appears to have been sucessful with Sid, but it will not apply to all players.
Bringing in a player of similar experience to have a first team berth is certainly not the way to motivate players though.
Still out coach knows best

| Not to sure about this move, we don't have any youngsters in the first team squad to play prop, think jack spencer is more a back row/loose forward so dont think thats a problem. However would of liked to bring in a player with a little more first team experience (yes understand availability and cost) possibly palasinea from wigan he's not playing regular at the moment or jordan james from crusaders or even luke burgess from leeds. Hopefully he will turn out like our other loan players (darrell goulding, stuart reardon) but i do admit we are in desperate need to beef our pack, if we can sort this out coupled with the way all our backs are playing we could sneak in to the top 8.

| I cant understand the timing of the deal with no game this week and warrington next which he probably wont be able 2 play means we will only get 2 games out of him surly it would have been better to wait untill after the warrington game were we could get a full month out of him.

| What has jack spencer done wrong, he couldnt break wind thats what hes only in there cause of the franchise rules stating you have to have so many salford based youngsters in the squad, neal has been training with the best prop in the league and one of the best he captained england will be a very good loan signing

| maybe getting him now gives us time to get him used to our style of play, the loan could be a long term deal after the initial 1 mth?

| I can appreciate the comments about overlooking our own young props but are they ready, are they good enough yet and do they have as much potential as this lad? It's one thing critising McRae but does anyone actually know if our own young props are better than this lad?
Also why should we automatically assume that McRae approached Warrington? For all we know he may have been offered to Salford because Warrington know of our front row injuries and they want to do the best for one of their players. Lets face it Warrington have a long line of fully fit quality props and first team opportunities must be very limited regardless of potential.
And lets not forget he's a Salford boy who wants to come and play for the club so why not give this loan move our full support rather than poo pooing everything McRae does.
Personally I think we'll see how good and how much character our own young props have by how they respond to this lad coming in on loan. If they sulk about it rather than rising to the challenge then they shouldn't be at the club in my opinion.

| We are hardly blessed with props at reserve level so can understand why we've got someone in on loan. Got a couple of decent props in the under 18s side but not ready for the first team yet.

| I'm lead to believe this guy is a Salford fan.... in which case he's likely to pull his tripe out for the cause. I say it's a good move.

| Adam has really stepped up his game this season.. and its a fantastic opportunity for him. With ref to your younger lads, if you read the Leigh board about the dual registered lads over there, if anything it seems to have spurred the players around them to raise their game. Healthy competition within the team can only be good for your squad.
Harsh for the young lads in waiting, but a big lesson in life...
