ive fooled myself, i thought you were referring to the reds day this thursday, which i also cannot attend.

Thursday's event has been postponed.

Why dont they make it at a weekend, as an above poster has said, people work. And they wonder why we cannot attract new fans.

They have it in the great hall on the steps , so think its too busy to have it over the w/end as 2-30pm week days are slightly quieter.

but have it at the weekend and people will ask what is going on and may just come down to see a match have players signing posters with fixture lists on as well. Just a thought.
I remember a few years back being in the Arndale one Saturday and the Manchester Ice Hockey were there signing all sorts of stuff to get people to come along and see them in action.

The Reds day slipped off my radar as for the fans day at the TC it was a pretty enjoyable couple of hours last time especialy for younger supporters.
Hopefully we can mange to get a mascot there this year.

I understand that shirl but How many people travel through the trafford centre on a saturday than on a thursday afternoon?, surley our sponsors could accomodate that for us. it is the least they could do after the slow BUT progress with our stadium. Christ i sound like Neil now

Isn't the purpose of the Salford event mainly a media day where the press get their photos and interview the players - with the club also saying that fans are welcome if they want to pop along? Bearing that in mind, any serious sports journalist or photographer is likely to be otherwise engaged covering sport on a weekend, so a weekday makes perfect sense.

Yes, because the local media really do a lot of coverage of Salford dont they.

Surely that's some form of oxymoron, Key 103 and media in the same sentence. The radio station with a record archive that fits in a shoe box and a combined talent of the presenters that requires even less space to store it.

And the club would get even less coverage if they didn't try courting the media. The point is, it [uis[/u a media event and not a fans event. The club have a pre season event at the Willows every year for the fans to attend - just because they are open enough to allow fans to the media event doesn't suddenly mean it moves away from being at the more convenient time for the media and the venue. Besides, we're talking Salford fans here and an event that isn't at the Willows - you probably wouldn't get more than 20 turning up on a Saturday afternoon (unless they were already shopping there).

Maybe that's blown the cover on the mystery number 22.

I was going to put the same about hardly anyone turning up (how many went to the fans' launch at the Willows?!

) but then thought about the suggestion above of having two separate events.

The one for the media on a Thursday is must to get the local journos involved and to get our club photos done so they can be circulated. Fans being invited to this is a nice touch but not essential.

However a second event, hopefully held on a busy Saturday afternoon, could be held. Fans could be invitd again (and may be more likely/able to attend) but the main focus could be publicity for the non-RL masses. I can't see any reason why the Trafford Centre wouldn't let us do so, in the kind of space where they often have SKY salesmen, brass bands, charity promos, etc.

That way the fans would have a more accessible chance to meet the players at the TC (although they really should've taken their opprtunity at the Willows event?!) whilst the team/club get some great publicity.

Isn't this the idea of the Superleague event on a Saturday at the TC? It's really up to our club to get a high profile presence and capitalise on that event as being the local club to (and sponsored by) the venue.

we hardly got a mention at last year's SL launch at the TC - am hoping for an improvement this year
