Let's not forget the legal agreement between Peel and Salford City Council - The Stadium has to be built before anything else gets built on the site!
I'm sure Peel have a much bigger incentive to build the stadium quickly now because one things for sure they'll want to get building Port Salford as soon as they possibly can?

| Some positive news at long last.
Now all we need to see is the men in hard hats on the site over at Barton.

Ah right. I thought it may have been a fancy dan name for property development like houses and leisure complex.
Good for jobs though, sounds good.

Yes it's an extremely significant progression because part of the Port Salford planning application was for the new link roads which includes new junctions off the M60 straight in and out of the new stadium site and a direct link to the Trafford Centre.
It has been said that the importance of having these new roads will make the stadium outlay costs for Peel much more viable due to increased land values for other potential developments surrounding the stadium.

| Until the club comes up with "yes we are going to start building on such a date " then you might as well ignore all the rumours and speculation about it, and just wait in the knowing it is going to be built...until they say no it isnt.

It's not in the clubs hands to decide when they start building the stadium. It's all down to fitting in and around Peel's 'Western Gateway Infrastructure Scheme' plans because they're paying for it in return for a large plot of land from the council.
Let's face it Peel would have never started building the proposed new stadium until they got the green light from the council for Port Salford and all the new roads.
Personally I think the delay with the stadium has been held up due to the PS application taking 5-6 years to get a final approval due to it's complexity.

Call my cynical but I believe Peel have been using the stadium as a political lever with the local authorities to get backing for bigger and more profitable ventures.
In my view Peel have caused unintentional embarrassment to the club with their business strategy!

Just because it is good for Peel does not mean that it is bad for everyone else, and a business strategy that leads to the creation of new jobs in the area can only be good for Salford Council. They would not "hold back a bit" just to annoy Peel, then pass it anyway. The Council owe it to the voters and ratepayers of Salford to consider all business plans on their merits, and in the case of a large development like this there are a lot of things to take into consideration. With a bit of luck this latest news should ensure that things start to move soon.

I do not believe the council would have purposley delayed it because I understand they have been extremely supportive to the club and want a SL team playing in an iconic stadium, for the city.
The Port Salford planning application was very complex and had to be rubber stamped by the Highways Agency and two separate local councils.
There was a lot of red tape with this application and Salford Council's endorsment was the final approval Peel needed.
I'm sure Peel and the council were aware that had the PS application been rejected or delayed it could have jepordising Salford's next Superleague licence application.
