| Carrying a few injuries old Terry.
But in all fairness on his day he still is a very classy player.

| Would not touch him with a barge pole.
We are not a retirement home and I would promote from within before even considering a thug like Newton

| I'd take him without a doubt, but I really think we should take a look and that Andy Ellis from Barrow mightly impressed with what I've seen from him.

| Newton is too much of a reliability. Penalty machine. We struggle enough as it is without tripling our penalty count too.

| As the reason given for leaving Bradford is that they would only offer him a 1 year contract when he wants the security of 2 years, presumably we'd only get him for 2 years - rather an expensive option I think.

| I'd rather us be looking at signing younger, up-and-coming players rather like Leeds have done with Coady and now Amor.
Why do we hardly ever look at signing players from the lower leagues?? I know it's not, and never has been, a McRea tactic but there are some gems down there that we don't seem to ever want to gamble on eg Peter Fox, Matt Blaymire, the Grix brothers, Jamie Rooney, Danny Kirmond, Ben Fisher and Shaun Lunt to name just a few.
There are definitely players down the lower leagues who are good enough for SL, its just a matter of being bothered to look.

I agree. In addition he is very overated by some and is quite an average player. I would be very, very disappointed if we even thought about signing him and am glad he is going to Wakefield.

Too true. He gives enough away as it is. Imagine how much he'd be pulled for in a salford shirt?

| How about a cheeky bid for =blueBrad Drew? Looks like he will be surplus to requirements if Wakey have signed that thug Newton.
I would be happy with that signing and we could switch Malc to second row for next season or if he hangs up his boots i hope we make malc assistant coach.

Didn't we go after Smith and Beswick from Widnes a few years back?
I agree with the broad point though, I don't think there's enough upwards movement from second and third tier.
