| Apologies for yet another thread on the new stadium, I'm getting bored of them myself, but I thought this might get lost amongst the other threads on here. And I've not seen this discussed on the other threads today, although I might have missed it...
According to whoever updates the Twitter account, there will be a stadium update later today and "there will be further discussion with journos at this afternoon's pre-match press conf." Apparently further updates will be on the website later today.
Fingers crossed that it's something good.

Reds Stadium Update
Further to today’s scheduled meeting of the development team (Salford City Reds, City of Salford, Salford City College and Peel Holdings) regarding the proposed Reds’ stadium development, high on the agenda was the recent announcement that LSC investment has not been allocated to the project in this round of funding.
The outcome of the meeting was very positive, mapping out all of the options that the team now have available to them, to ensure the delivery of the stadium within the required time frames.
After the meeting, Peter Crompton, Principal of Salford City College said:
“LSC funding is not and never has been the only way of funding our interest in the stadium development.
“The college has other options available to it and these are continuing to be explored by the development team.
“We are very positive about our role in the development of this essential acquisition for the college, the people and the City of Salford.”
All partners in the development remain in a very positive mood despite the setbacks we have had to face from time to time. Confidence in the delivery of the development within the timeframe remains high due to the quality and strength of the development team partners.
Reds’ Chairman, John Wilkinson said:
“We have the land, we have planning permission and we have a very supportive and highly qualified team working this project through and it will be delivered.
“The people of the City of Salford deserve a high quality stadium along with one of the best college facilities in the country, and that is what we will give them.
“We ask fans to continue to support and trust the club, in what is a highly complex development as we endeavour to deliver what is every fans dream.”

The most positive thing I can say at the moment is that at least the Club are keeping us informed. I'm sure that there is a lot of hard work going on to keep the dream alive, so keep your spirits up everyone. Failing that, do as I do and sink a few spirits down.

| Just read it on the web site. I hope it is not empty retoric. I do hope the development team have got further options and the plans are not dead in the water.
I also hope they have a plan in case they are dead in the water. We cannot afford to become homeless like Swinton. Our low fan base would become ever smaller and it would be the death of the club.
Finally, I hope that they continue to communicate with the fans. Ant news no matter how small, positive or negative would be better than nothing at all for months and months. I believe that one of the biggest mistakes the club has made is keeping the fans in the dark. It leads to nerves and thoughts that there is something to hide.
Let's be open and honest and why not involve the fans more in trying to make the thing happen? I'm sure that's all anyone wants.

| So the report that JW had said to the Barton residents the stadium would not be built without LSC funding and we ahd no plan B was wrong?
I emailed the club for confirmation of what was said last week but as usual have not had a reply.
Not asking a lot surely, a simple yes or no would help.

| It's a far cry from this:
[urlhttp://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2008/feb/15/rugbyleague.superleague[/url
[i"We have waited a long time for work on the stadium to begin," admitted Salford's chairman, John Wilkinson. "Should our Super League application be successful, our plans ensure that the team will play the first home game of the 2010 season at the new City of Salford stadium."[/i
You deserve better.

| Not doubting Original Red Devil just stating that I had asked JW for confirmation and had not received a reply. We seem to be getting conflicting information from the club as usual.

Seems strange that Wilkey says at the meeting we dont have any other way of funding it but Mr Crompton says we do have other ways of funding it.
'"
I'd interpreted that to mean that there was no way to fund it without the involvement of Salford College, but that the particular funding application just turned down for the College was not the only possible source.
