Because I booked the pre-season Salford-Leeds game on line I now find myself on the Jacksonville Axemen's mailing list and get the occasional e-mail from the superbly named Daryl Spinner Howland. I have copied part of the e-mail from today's e-mail as I thought it may be of interest to readers of this message board:-
- The Axemen open up the season this Saturday at UNF under the coaching of former professional and international player Sean Rutgerson. Sean played in the NRL in Australian and also played for the Salford City Reds in the UK for three years during which time he got to visit Jacksonville three times for training camp. He is now the head coach of the Axemen.
Certainly if the Axemen play like Sean used to do they won't go far wrong - though they will all have to learn how to take head tackles! I hope he enjoys Florida.
