| I thought he was superb tonight.
Him and Tomkins(and Ainscough) really give me hope that England may one day have a half decent backline.
Hope things pick up for you soon.

| He was terrific but he is the one light in the darkness for us as we are really struggling to compete at the moment. Thought Ainscough was excellent also and we had a lot of trouble getting even a hand on him. Small guy but very quick and elusive.

Ainscough is incredibly strong for the size of him and has decent enough pace to make him a handfull. It's great to see the lad as the leading tryscorer in superleague so early in his career.
As for Myler he looks to have everything but as you say it's in a team really struggling. I suppose this is the beauty of the franchise system in that you can keep giving him and the other youngsters a chance without the fear of being relegated.

| I thought Tomkins was the real stand-out player on the park tonight, although Myler was probably the best of our bunch.

| Myler was outstanding again in a beaten team.
I would loved to have seen him in our side in 2006 alongside Dunneman. For me Myler is a much better half back than Luke Robinson and he would have really flourished at Salford a few years back. We will have a real struggle to hold onto him unless the team improves dramatically.

Agreed, I've heard nothing but good things about Tomkins for a good 2 years now & personally thought he couldn't be anywhere near as good as the hype but the more I see of him the more I'm impressed. He was the stand-out player on the pitch tonight for me.
Great performance for us by Myler tonight. Shame that there were so few players running on his shoulder because he always looked capable of breaking the line. I'll be honest & say that I've often wondered whether Myler's over-hyped but I would say that when we've been able to get him on the field this season he's more than proved that he's up to this level, shame some of his team-mates with far more experience can't say that.

| Although I have been a Leigh fan for over 50 seasons (and a bit more) every time I have seen this lad play I have been impressed. Wish he,d have been on our books but I have seen Alex Murphy in a Leigh shirt.

| Richie Myler is too good for us, end of. He shown more invention and made more clean breaks last night than what smith and paul have done in the last 3 games! I'm sorry but i've give smith some time now but we've got to give ratchford a go at 6, smith's kicking game which we were told would lead us around the field is terrible!

Myler, great performance and can still get better.
Ratchford must be given a chance at 6

Why is McRae doing that with Ratchford, I understand you dont have many wingers but there must be someone else who can play there

| There is only so much loyalty a player will show to a club.
He says he loves it at Salford but when the big teams come a calling he will be off.
We need to build a team around Myler, Turney,Ratchford and the rest.
No more $hite second rate Aussies.

| Here's a radical idea.
How about we buck the trend of signing average Australians/Kiwis and try to have a squad of just British players. If the overseas limit will be coming down in the near future then we could build a reputation as somewhere that promising young players can develop and make the 1st team, if they are good enough.
I for one would rather see a young, developing team than one choc full of overseas mercenaries.

Agree 100% but it will never happen with Simms and McRea at the helm

Could be a really good PR stunt if nothing else.
Considering what the franchise system is all about, and the fact that we're not the most media-friendly club at present, it might be a good idea to try and field a fully English squad? Then perhaps work towards a squad for next year that has more English players than anyone else?
We're going to get battered on a weekly basis this year anyway, we might as well have the excuse of only choosing home grown players?
Don't like your "overseas mercenaries" quote though - my RL watching experiences have been lit-up over the years by many, many amazing foreign players. I appreciate that none of our current crop are 'RL greats' but don't think it's fair to refer to foreign players en masse as 'mercenaries'.
