Made hard work of it today but would be surprised if any Salford fan didn't care of the outcome with 20 minutes to go. No idea why Wakefield took the 2 points at 22-24. Another try there and it was game over for us.

An expected low turnout from us today but can see a few turning out vs Leigh now we've got a win on the board. Big game next week. Win and will have a 4 point lead over the club most likely to take our place in the top flight.

Massive win. Magnificent first half with no penalties conceded. Only lapse of concentration at end of half which cost us 6 points. Second half, in contrast, all over the place & at times there was panic.
Play like first half = super League.
Play like second half = struggle.
I thought the enthusiasm & application of the players was excellent.

Not unless there's a parallel universe - Salford definitely won yesterday.

Agree with this, haven't had butterflies in my stomach like that for a long time.

Honestly think you will struggle to make the top 3 of the Middle 8's if you have that much trouble beating Wakefield at home.

Not sure on your other home games, but Leigh, HKR and Bradford all seem stronger teams than Salford and if they win their home games, especially against the lower opposition, realistically, the best you can hope for is to finish 4th on the table I would say.

I have something to add. From what I saw yesterday in the sunshyyyyyyine, bar some naïve defending in the 2nd half - the penalty count was massively down, we looked creative and composed going forward and most importantly had a great team spirit which I've not seen in previous weeks, but if we can build on yesterday and gather a bit of momentum, I see no reason why we cannot win our next 4 games - I see Leigh being the crunch match but we are fairly decent at home and I think we can gather the points needed by the time we have to face the trickier Widnes and HKR away games.

Did anyone else find our starting line-up odd yesterday? It looked like we were trying to force Thornley into the line-up and Evalds ended up on the bench because of it...I can't see that being the case though as Thornley is obviously off at the end of the season anyway.

Was Evalds not fully fit & we were just trying to take it easy with him?

Some of the subs seemed odd too - Evalds on for J. Griffin, then J. Griffin on for BJB I think? Again, if this wasn't due to knocks/problems occurring during the game, it just seemed a little strange to me.

Certainly seemed like we were trying to fit Thornley into the team. Hope we don't do the same against Leigh. Regarding the subs, all those were made due to injuries and knocks.

Cheers JGR, I was kind of hoping that was the reason for the subs - It seems the better option when the alternative is it actually being our game plan!

Josh Griffin ,BJB , Corey Paterson & Morley all got knocks during the game and left the field subbed , this wasn't tactical so there was a assiduous swapping of roles & positions.
I think Lee came back on in a forward position after being subbed for Tomkins , Also not a bad first run out for Reni Maitua who played the full 80.

Smith threw more telling passes yesterday than he did in all his time with us.

Two or our tries looked to come from Joe Montana passes.

Team spirit looks very good, I'd suggest more the Sheens effect than anything else.

Josh Griffin has got to be the best bargain buy since the Doc bought the club. Would take a team full of players with his heart and endeavour.

If Kallum Watkins or Zak Hardaker had scored that Griffin Try you'd have the commentators milking themselves with superlatives.

Same here. Proper nerve wracking in that 2nd half. It seemed to improve the atmosphere though which was good.

I think you're doing a bit of a disservice to Ian Watson there. The players have been quite vocal about his passion, so I would give him some credit too.

Agree entirely on Josh Griffin, masterstroke by Iestyn Harris to bring him in. He's been fantastic. You can tell he just loves the club, when he scored his try on Sunday you could see what it meant to him especially infront of the South Stand. George much the same too.

After his performance on Sunday I am still unsure which is Josh' best position, winger or centre.

I think all the Griffins have been great buys for us. They always give their all and they are a passionate bunch.
