| Quote ="TangerineDream"Had seriously considered going to Wakefield today, but following Widnes's nailed on win against Wigan and Salford City's FA Cup draw at Congleton Town yesterday - meaning a replay on Tuesday night - I decided not to after all. Glad I made that decision now judging by the performance today.
The sooner they do away with all this mockery of a top 8 play-off sh*te the better, as clubs already guaranteed a place in it just don't give a flying fig about subsequent results which ultimately - and unfairly in my opinion -impact on the aspirations of a number of clubs in the lower half of the table. Some of the results I've seen recently have been a complete p*sstake and completely undervalue the league competition. Let's do away also with the two week breaks every time there are any Challenge Cup games. It's farcical when there are two semi-finals where even the teams own supporters can't be bothered going and we're expected not to play resulting in a loss of momentum and continuity. Rant over!'"
Do you actually realise how much impact the final 2 games could have for teams in the top 8 ? Cas could finish as high as top or as low as 6th and where they finish depends on home draws etc. Do you think they will just roll over for Wakey and Catalan.

A few mistakes but as you say Wakey bossed the game, watching it your guys didn't seem to have the heart for a scrap, you'd have thought watching Salford that they had Nowt to play for.

| Tim Smith ran the show, Chase is class on his day but i think Dobson & fages would be a better partnership next year with Chase at hooker. We were disgraceful yesterday although Wakefield were on it. Fair play to them they played well!

| What a pathetic, disappointing end to our season!
Both clubs with an outside chance of achieving something but only one team turned up on the day.
Any bets on what the attendance will be now for London?

| I sat in work listening to the game yesterday and have never felt so deflated. We shouldn't be getting beaten so easily by teams like Wakefield, getting beaten I can handle but simply not turning up is not acceptable.

| It was a disgraceful performance, our forwards gave us no platform. This has to be a priority for next season i'd say a couple of monster forwards are needed! Prefably youngish.

| Ever heard the saying we are only here for the beer???.........well swap the word beer for money your players who
put that salford shirt on week in week out are on really good money they probably couldn't get anywhere else so
when the going gets tough your lot are not interested they couldn't give a stuff about salford just there bank balances.

Been looking at the stats
www.superleague.co.uk/report/10071
and one of the players I felt had not tacked well, actually did well in the stats.
One area that the stats do not state is the common practice, we have, of two players holding the opponent up and a third comes in late onto the legs to bring the opponent down.
I am sure there has been a change against this coming in next season. nyone know more?

| There must surely be an underlying problem(s) within this underperforming team. I can’t think of another club who have performed as poorly as us this year considering the strength of squads and the level of investment. It did appear the tide was turning recently but the heavy defeats to Wigan and Wakefield shows we are way off where we should be when our opponents fancy it.
Take Wakefield as an example to compare us to, a club that were in financial crisis over the winter with several forced departures and many new faces to plug the holes in what appeared a sinking ship. By contrast the Doc pushed the boat out on several high profile internationals and we were tipped by the bookies for a top 7 finish. Like Salford, Wakey have also had a change of head coach so we can’t use this as an excuse for our troubles on the field. And to rub further salt into the wounds Tim Smith a player that was so disappointing in a Salford shirt had a blinder yesterday and he’s been a totally different player since he rejoined them, why? What is the problem at Salford? As a supporter that expected to see a reasonable improvement this year, I’m totally pi$$ed off watching this dross. I'd actually go as far as saying that this year has been much more disappointing than last year when we finished bottom.
And it pains me to say that Garry Schofield's prediction of a poor year for Salford was absolutely spot on.

| I think people are reading too much into what the problem is/was. Yesterday, we started poorly and gave Wakefield a 16-0 head start. In doing that, you’ve given your opposition a huge amount of confidence and that reflected in the way Wakefield played after this. We got ourselves back in the game at 16-6 and had Theo finished off his break (looked a certain penalty for a high shot from Sykes btw) then who knows (same thing at Wigan – had Junior scored his breakaway we’d have been back in the game).
It seems we struggle to get ourselves back into games where we help the opposition make a healthy early lead. We noticeable appear to start feeling sorry for ourselves and continue to give away penalties and make errors, whilst giving up in defence. Character problem? Maybe it’s something that will improve next season, after a year playing together.

| Yeah it was disappointing, but that's sport sometimes. We're not the only team to get thoroughly outplayed on more than one occasion this season. Every team has suffered some kind of catastrophic mindfart at some point. It's highlighted for us because it was such a key game and we'd been playing well. Sometimes teams that lose momentum like we have with a couple of null weekends find it hard to maintain. We can still have a strong finish with a bit of luck which will lift morale before the start of pre-season.
It's not the end of the world!

| Not the end of the world, admittedly. But it is the end of another disappointing season as a Salford fan. I'm running out of time in my desire to see Salford just once perform well enough to reach a cup final or at least manage more than an abject performance in a play off game...

We avoided relegation, which for me was my main concern. Apart from that it has been disappointing in some areas with a sprinkling of what might be. I'm with you on the fact that it would be nice to see Salford succeed in my lifetime. So far the first half of my life has seen me watch Salford decline for all of it. Fingers crossed the second half goes better, and indeed I actually finish the other half.

| We were thoroughly outplayed yesterday, which (through gritted teeth) I can accept - it happens to the best of teams.
But when the other team is simply more up for it than our lot, in what was basically our cup final, well I find that hard to take.
We drove over with 4 young fans yesterday, none of which were older than 12. They must wonder what the hell they have done to deserve us dragging them there to watch that. Let's hope social services don't find out...

| Wakefield have recently beaten Leeds, Wigan , Warrington & Widnes, the last two away.
Salford haven't managed a win against those teams home or away all season.
We have proven we can roll over teams who aren't playing to their best , but have no answer to Teams playing with confidence, as was proven yesterday.

I'd say good odds now on next weeks London game being a banana skin

That is why I love the Doc, other owners might think that but he is honest and open enough to admit it.
I can see a couple of the players on the books waving their goodbyes at the Widnes game.

I think coach and owner need to have a discussion. The team had 4 days off, including the weekend, and were trained very hard on the other days. Wakefield had 10 days off and turned up refreshed, bright eyed and bushy tailed, as opposed to running onto the field already tired.
Perhaps we should stop questioning the players' loyalty commitment and passion and, instead, question if they are being properly prepared?
Surely now is the time to blood some of the fringe players and see what they have to offer? What are the chances?

| I'd make 2 points on this:
1) It really is a confidence game and not many teams come back from 3 tries down early on in a game. We've suffered with that plenty of times ourselves. If you let a team get the better of you early on and take a decent lead then one team just gains confidence that they can keep scoring and the other starts to believe they can't get back into it. Only the mentally strongest teams tend to recover from that scenario, and Salford (like Wakefield) are not really one of those teams at this stage in their development.
2) I know Koukash has saved your club and brought some much needed character and publicity into the sport but his reaction again does your team no favours. This is the sort of statement that should be coming from the coach and not the owner IMO. Owners meddling in team affairs rarely works, that's why you have a coaching team. Dr Koukash should be bawling out Harris and letting him bawl out the team, otherwise he just undermines the coach and causes more harm than he solves.

It could well be a pressure thing, did your players see it as their cup final? I never saw anything involving Wakey heaping pressure on the team or speccis, for me it was just another game, no pressure as it was gonna be difficult to make the 8.

I couldn't agree more....
I love the fact that he's a fan and hurts like the rest of us and he is entitled to tweet about dissatisfaction etc, however, it's for the coach to decide who plays, stays or goes.
Unless of course, Marwan decides that he is now coach!!!!!!
