Marc is touted round by his son of Salford agent (Blease I hope never darkens our door again) and the player puts in a transfer request.

Why? Ian Blease's duty is to the player, not the club. Given that Marc seems unlikely to be a first choice player if he stays at Salford, Blease would be in dereliction of that duty if he didn't try to secure a move for him.

| Quote ="John Gilbert Reds"Anyone want to hazard a guess at the reception Sneyd will get next week?'"
I really, really hope he gets a decent, welcoming reception from us. Two reasons:
1. Some of the Cas, Widnes and Warrington fans that come on here seem to have the mental age of a shirt button. I feel embarrassed for them sometimes. Please let us not fall into the same trap.
2. If there's still a chance he'll change his mind - or if he [iis[/i going to be with us next season - giving him a load of childish abuse isn't going to make him stay, or to put the effort in if he does stay.
I hope we'll be on our best behaviour, but I fear our tit-fed crew will let us down.

| I anticipate a split reception. The d*ckhead element will boo him, the majority will cheer him and hopefully sing him a few songs.

You're right about us needing a hooker though. Hopefully, we'll get Gareth Owen back from his season long loan, but we still need another one. Logan has been great for us, and I'd have been happy to see him stay (over Clark, to be honest), but it looks like that won't happen.
We also need a couple of props and a centre. This might be where Marc Sneyd's value lies: clubs could start offering props and hookers in swap deals.'"
I dont think that either Sneyd or Finn are complete organisers as such but they both play in a system and have been doing it very well. I am not sure how Sneyd will go when he is removed from that system either and I certainly could see problems with him playing alongside Chase. Sneyd is not anywhere near the finished article either still makes too many errors and needs to improve his tackling. He has benefitted this season because Cas have in the main being playing on the front foot behind a good pack.
I can see why the signing of Dobson would have got to Sneyd and he has to do whats best for him.
I dont quite understand the why the Dr says players/agents should not dictate to clubs when he was quite happy when Chase and his agent did much the same to Cas just last year and I am sure in that case that the agent would have been in early and regular contact with Salford (and probably other clubs as well) throughout the deal. I dont see a difference at all.

So that's 7 fans cheering for him and 4 fans booing, can't imagine it will unsettle him too much, if he whistles a little ditty to himself it will probably drown out the noise from the home support anyway

| Personally I'm gutted having seen him progress through the academy to getting his first proper run of 1st team games last season .
It's strange considering when he went on loan to Cas he was probably 4th choice of the signings they made to cover the half backs , yet he backed himself to claim a starting spot, as one of 4 ' top quality' half backs he could acheive the same with Salford next season ..
However. if he doesn't want to wear the scarlet I would not want him back contracted or not. lets find someone who ' wants to play for Salford ' ?
I wouldn't expect Signature sports management to be a welcome guest at the AJB any time soon ..

The difference is we didnt go to Cas and ask them to release Chase from his contract and let him join us for free.We respected the rules and approached Cas first and then made a substansial monetary offer to Cas for his services.
Sneyds agent has been Hawking him around several SL clubs looking for a deal while his client still has 18 months on his existing contract.Surely he should have asked Salford first if his client had any chance of getting a release and certainly wasnt going to get released for free like his agent seemed to think was the right thing for Salford to do.

Not a particularly mature response to a genuine statement.
When you post things like this, does it ever occur to you that:
a. You're making yourself look like a bell-end.
b. You're tarring sensible Cas fans with the same brush.
c. You're going to have to have thick skin when things start to go downhill.
In answer to your question, by the way, on these forums the answer is two. The hordes of knobbish posts from Salford 'fans' came from two penile posters that turn up once every blue moon under one or two different guises. You see, what they did is make the rest of us fall into category B above, something that you're managing to do spectacularly well every time you post on here. You've already underlined your presence in Category A, just be wary of Category C.

Talking about persuading their young talent to stay, how many have Cas held onto in recent times? All seem to jump ship at the first available opportunity, even after your best Super League season ever Clarke is still leaving. I cant think what they dont like about the ar$e end of Wakefield.

I play by a different set of rules too. When they finally make "Scarlet Turkey: The Movie", they'll have to get Steven Seagal to play me.
My thinking here is that Daryl Clark is, as you suggest, a real standout player. We already have a few of those next season in Locke, Dobson and Chase. I think we need a hooker who can create space for those players by giving quick, accurate distribution from dummy half rather than one who is just as flamboyant. I think Logan Tomkins gives us that.
Still, I wouldn't complain if we got Clark.

Yes I think it's because we have been holding all the ace cards on both Chase and Sneyd. Fans favourite Chase to Salford was a non starter in the eyes of many Cas fans and then it happened. Then they get Marc Sneyd on loan and they probably had pretty low expectations. The lad performs great and contibutes to a fantastic half season but he's still contracted to Salford and they want to keep him.
What I think makes it more hard for some to accept is I'm sure that they have always considered Salford an inferior club financially and it all changed when the Doc came on board. If Chase had gone to Wigan or Warrington I think the Castleford supporters would have accepted that much easier.
Further to this I think the Doc's outspoken views on twitter has stoked up even more anger and bitterness. As you say it's an obsession for many of them to troll us now, especially whilst they are currently holding the high ground following a successful year so far.
The best thing to do is just ignore their posts and they'll get bored.
As for Cas as a team I've always liked them and still do. Everybody likes an underdog and I've enjoyed watching them cause quite a few upsets this year.

All this bitterness and animosity from some of our dead head posters is unbelievable. Ok we are NOW in a steady financial state and we as a club are forever indebted to our chairman Jack Fulton. But lets face it if we had someone who wanted to take over the club and pour untold sums into player recruitment then I and I'm sure Mr Fulton would not be too upset. We keep going back to this time and time again but the only thing I don't especially like about Koukash is his use of social media as I feel someone in a position he is should act a little more professionally, But this by no means causes me to hate the guy and slag him off with comments that are not only slanderous but in some instances borderline racist. If truth be told most Cas fans would welcome a sugar daddy with open arms. The worry comes though if he gets fed up and sells you down the river which I agree could be said about a few more high profile chairmen at a couple of football clubs not so far from you.
I welcome this new money in Superleague with open arms and cherry picking of top players will always happen until every single player gets paid exactly the same and there teams are equally successful which lets face it will never happen.

A very balanced and honest post.
I have to say that I agree with you on most points. However, it's getting harder and harder to like them with the idiots that come on here. If you are a Twitter user, reading anything MK posts (regardless of subject) attracts bell-ends like flies on a bucket of turds. Most of those flies are Cas fans with a splattering of other 'fans'. Just be thankful that we only get half a dozen on here because Twitter is positively alive with brain damage. I've been trying to figure out the various reasons why Cas seems to have more specials per head than other teams and their particular fascination with us?
While your succinct post answers part of that question admirably it still, in my eyes, doesn't account for the sheer numbers of excitable dribblers. Some you'd expect, but the numbers are staggering when you take social media into the question. The one or two quality Cas fans are being drowned-out by the noise of Premiership quality fools. If I was a Cas fan I'd be very optimistic but also very cautious. Success can come to anyone under the right circumstances, maintaining that success is the greatest challenge. Only a few Clubs have managed it. For fans to ride the excitement wave of a good half season is to be expected. For a team coming from the 'lower' part of SL to do it, more so. However, the fact that you come from the lower tier would mean to most sensible thinkers, that recent memory of hard times would drive your thinking. It seems that Bullied become the Bully in this case.
Which is a bit disheartening to be honest.
I have no ill will to Castleford or its people. The Club, its players, or its staff. Considering we're supposed to be a RL Family where most Clubs are struggling to even exist, to take pleasure in other Clubs misfortunes seems to me to be the lowest of the low. While I reserve my ire for those that deserve it, the increasing numbers of them at Cas are turning my opinions against them as a general group.
Dignity and humility have yet to make themselves felt over at Cas in any numbers.

| As I think many know the actions of the more moronic Cas fans who seem to inundate this forum have created a great dislike in the Castleford team in my eyes.
I have just for the first time in my life seen Twitter and reading some of the posts on the Docs account by Castleford fans shocked me, I honestly didn't expect their too be so much vitriolic bile spewed. It makes me hope more than anything that the Doc takes a very hard line stance with Sneyd and categorically says no to him signing for Castleford.
I struggle too see where a great deal of this hatred for the Doc comes from, I would have thought a sport so perpetually close to the precipice as ours would have welcomed someone so readily willing to heavily invest into said sport with open arms.
I guess some Turkeys are happy to be bloody minded and vote for Christmas.
