The stadium seems to be key and there are a few sticking points sale and peel holdings can't see council blocking the sale but sale have been paying rent we have not and impression I get is we don't get stadium be happy when confirmed this could still go either way but am optimistic with interviews sound positive. But till done we still could be left high and dry yet. Let's hope Monday is the announcement we all want

Think like everyone else I was hoping for some form of announcement today, I just hope the delay is down to the Doc getting closer to a deal for the stadium too.

Does anyone know if there is any form of deadline for new players being registered before the first game/s of the season? Would be a wonderful event to not only have the new owner in place but also the new players that have been targeted all introduced to the crowd against Wigan in the league.

No their isn't any deadline for signing new players its not like football RL can transfer players when they want.

Normally for UK players the day before a game...but I seem to recall Cooke signing for HKR and playing the same day.

Overseas players at least six weeks often longer.

This waiting is making me nervous...

Hopefully the finer points will be finalised very soon, and the Dr can lead us into the Promised Land.

According to interviews it was not far off but how many times do we here that. I would presume its all got to be passed by RFLP and even the courts before they can announce and sorting what is owed out. But have a feeling it could be peeel and sale that's the main issue but it's biting our nails time. A typical scenario for are club. Let's just hope we get good news for a change

Eccles Star, why do think Sale Sharks will having anything to do with us being bought? Even if the good DR. buys the ground it's still nothing to do with Sale as they're only tenants like us.

My take on this is that Dr K is playing quite a hard game with Peel, the Stadium company and the council.

Unlike Ecclesstar I cannot believe that Sale have any input whatever into the negotiations other than that they (presumably) have a contract with the stadium company that would survive even if the good Dr buys the stadium Co as well as Salford.

The council are between a rock and a hard place - if they don't play ball then they lose everything (but then it's public money so what do they care?) - so I suspect they'd love to see a full buyout and get some cash back into their coffers (BUT did they actually stump up cash or borrow it to finance their part in the stadium build? - if the latter then early repayment could actually cost more than seeing the loan out!)

Peel are the unknown quantity - clearly as a company they play a very long game and have their own strategic ambitions. It may or may not be in their perceived interest to lose ownership of the one tangible asset in this whole sorry saga - who knows?

It wouldn't surprise me to see some form of joint venture between Dr K & Peel emerge from this - obviously the Dr has hit the nail 100% on the head in realising that you just have to have control over as many income streams as you possibly can and I guess those negotiations are taking the time.

Just be patient folks - these things do take time and Dr K didn't get to his current position by taking hasty or wrong decisions.

Spot on Barton. I think the Council borrowed (at a v good rate) in the first place so who knows the get out clause there.

Peel will be partners in the Stadium I feel & as the Dr has a long term view I think he will be putting in the foundations first but the Feb 4th date is looming so would estimate the deal being done - if all goes to plan - at 5.30pm on Friday 1st Feb. Would be very surprised if before. Maybe 5 o`clock.

Can we not use the Myler money to pay the new players short term



Think very few people have doubts he will eventually end up as the new owner of the club I more think many are worried that the longer the leave it the weaker the club will be in the long term for recruitment (I fail to see that the take over dragging out didn't have a negative effect on Hock signing).

As for owning the stadium Salford council will want rid of the whole shooting match as quickly as they can and the more I think on the more Peel will want to deal with the Doc as his interest in hotels and I refuse to believe that at some point his interest in the club isn't linked to the possibility of a race course being built by Peel in the near future (which although I don't follow horse racing even I see the appeal for a large city like Salford/Manchester having a race course so close to it's - I hope they get permission and the smell of manure drives the Garrido bint from her ivory towers).
