I have no bad words against the youngsters, they have been the highlight of the year for me! Watching them forge their rugby careers with Salford has been wonderful, shame it had to take what happened to the club make them look at the babies, Alan Hunte and his staff have been doing a great job for a number of years. It means the club have built a great and exciting foundation for years to come.

The other seasoned pro's bar Gleeson can all go for me as they are not good enough, as stated that's why we are where we are and have been for years!

Big surprise the Salford Star puts a particular slant on a story and fills the article with barely concealed conspiracy theories. But look at this in cold hard financial terms. The council pay Mr Vickers £134k, which when you add on employers pension and NI contributions take the cost to the council over £160k pa. so they pay him off saving half his salary in the first year and £160k pa thereafter. That's how the system works. Does anybody expect then that Mr Vickers wouldn't go out and find a new job, if he doesn't he's pretty quickly out of pocket. The Council is making a significant saving, no issues for me.

Stanley is right. How you can praise a team of players who could finish bottom of the pile is ridiculous. Forget not giving 100% because they knew they might be out of a job. Fact is they are paid professionals if they don't give their all then they are a disgrace,simple.

Still don't know what job you do Stanley. Most of the players this year were clearly not Super League standard. If they hadn't played we would not have a team to support now. I don't have 'rose tinted glasses'. I just want to recognize the efforts of the players who have played this year. If you are not prepared to do that then that is your choice.

It was abundantly clear to everyone at the start of this season that things were not going to go well - expectations have been met.
Personally I thank everyone who has put on the Salford shirt and gone out and tried.

At the start of the season, it wasn't out of the question that we could lose every game. That would have been a disaster and would have eroded the fan base and our credibility even more.
The fact that this season's players won six games ( two less than last year's squad) has been a massive help.
They definitely deserve credit for their efforts.

I completely disagree, surely that is just settling for second best. Yes they tried but they aren;t good enough. They have been paid a good wage and we have still finished where we are. If McGoldrick is on the 60 K rumored then it is pure day light robbery.

With regards to players playing for us, hence we have a team, that's just drivel. Any player from the lower league would love a crack at SL, once again making them out like there mercenaries, I distinctly remember them getting a bit Ar$sey when they heard they might not get paid!

It's about realistic expectations. Understanding the situation and everything that goes along with that.

It's not settling for second best. If you don't see that, then the only thing you have a grip on is observing the team's position in the table and basing judgement off it. Which is not the most accurate way to gauge the nuances of the ebb and flow of a teams fortunes over the course of a season.

No, as stated before watching the youngsters develop and get game time has been great. But it doesn't mean I want us to keep any of the other pro's who have been toss. Bar Gleeson who is class.
My question would be who out of the squad bar the babies would you keep? who has showed they are quality enough to be a SL player, people will argue for Jodie and he is exciting but to be fair has had an average season and is gone anyway

If you're requiring Salford to to be a team full of superstars then it wont happen. You have to accept squad and utility players. They make up the numbers and are just as important when called upon to do a job. In my opinion there are some good stand-out squad players. Dixon, Ashurst, Gibson (before he went) Wagga, Sneyd. Gleeson, Fages and Broughton would probably be classed as better than squad players. If you think otherwise that's fair enough. Your opinion. But I'm glad that you're just watching from the terraces and not employed by the Club to make these decisions. No offence intended.

No need for that mate, its an open debate, if I disagree then I disagree. Certainly doesn't mean everything the coaching staff do is perfect, surely that's part of being a fan is that you disagree with certain things and applaud others.

I can understand you list of players who were ok, but they were no more than that. You can take out Sneyd, Gleeson, and Theo as they are either class or academy.

Gibson however is utter garbage and I am amazed he got another contract. His defense is truly awful and I guarantee when we play cas next year you know which side we are attacking
