What game is that over August Bank Holiday?
I'm not trolling at all I just have a point of view that differs from most on here.
Yes Warrington may have been the beneficiaries of Council involvement, but, I understand that the Club has met its obligations in that regard and gone on to finance an extension to the ground. If we hadn't paid the tally man and Simon Moran had threatened to move us out of town to force another issue, then I don't think that would on the face of it be fair either, so your 'stones glass houses' accusation isn't really a concern to me

| Quote ="Chico"Well they planned for this:
The plan was to make the club (with stadium) self-sufficient through radial developments — whether they were a retail park, a ‘supercasino’ or a hotel. Essentially this was Wilky’s legacy: to the leave the club on a sound footing. It just didn’t materialise. [url=http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/business/business-news/reds-stadium-firm-collapse-962005The developers went bust[/url.
In retrospect, you could argue that it was ‘pie in the sky’; you could also argue that the economic collapse five or six years ago put pay to any development funded in this way.
This is just part of the story as many of the Salford supporters on here, who lived through this saga for ten years, could tell you.'"
Thanks for that I can't argue that it doesn't look the part and understand fully that other developments could have underpinned your proposal. A combination of over egging it (only my opinion) and the economic misery of the last five years would have tested anyone's capabilities to deliver this. Particularly under the watchful eye (when it suits them) of the RL franchise committee.
I also think that you suffer because of the make up of the city itself, having lived IN Salford for many years I wouldn't know where the best location is to garner that home town club feel which is not a problem that most SL clubs face

| Lovely to see Warrington & Swinton fans backing up each other's points. This is arguably the finest example of dual-registration working that I've seen so far.

| Manchester United U21s have now been officially arrived as a third tenant. Whilst it's good that the stadium will not be a white elephant, the upshot of this is likely to be even more complacency from the SMC and even greater reluctance to allow Salford to stamp any sort of identity on those soulless concrete interiors.
Now that the facility is slightly more financially viable, it's also likely to strengthen the reluctance to sell to Marwan and is likely to marginalise Salford even further.
I was one of those who was positive about this stadium but the longer we spend there, the less convinced I am that there's ever going to be any real progress.
Just praying Marwan can somehow wrest control and make it work for us.

Hopefully at some point Salford Councils unhealthy relationship with Peel might get examined, causing an event leading to the disolving of the JMC.

Judging by MUFC's previous reserve/U21 grounds and the relationship they've had with home clubs, I doubt they'll have any impact on the ground's identity that we need to worry about. The way United have always done things is slightly different to how city have taken over Hyde's ground.

I don't think 7 additional Man U U21's games are doing to recover any financial instability with the SMC & the existing tenants.
the long term future was . is and always will be the retail development and it's possible use to supplement the running costs / team costs , depending on who wins out between the Dr , the Council & Peel

| I'll hold my hands up and admit I didn't realise MUFC play so few games. The general point about the clumsy handling of the stadium and the sub-par match day experience remains though.

It would be awful if they did stamp there identity we might end up with some red in our blue stadium and references to the red devils!
Seriously though it is a chance to market ourselves to new fans. I believe the reserves bring in a healthy crowd.
Lots of posters for Salford and an advert in the reverses program would be a good idea. I dont see any conflict with us having MUFC in the stadium.
